Hey guys, have a 2017 crf450 with estart installed by the dealer with a tusk lithium ion battery. Picked the bike up a few weeks ago, started and rode fine. Then wouldn’t start. Would start a few times later but then just dead. Tested battery, was low under load but was charging while the bike was running. Figuring ride it a bit would charge the battery then I’d be good. No bueno. Bought the same battery, put her in and fired up. No problems...for a few hours. Wouldn’t start. Same issue. When bikes running, battery charges but the battery remains dead. Checked all connections and grounds everything looks fine. Did a little research, tusk doesn’t offer a lithium ion for any crf450. Wondering if the charging system isn’t equipped to charge lithium batteries? I have since bought a regular battery and will go that route. Any feedback is appreciated.

Those batterys are junk as are all OEM units.
Get a real LI battery. Shorai or WPS.
You will be happy with a good battery and they will last several years, but do cost more.

I have the wps featherweight one in my '17 crf450, with absolutely no issues at all.
It surprises me how fast the thing does start compared to a buddies '17 ktm 450, and anothers '14 ktm 350
