470 main 35 pilot clip 3 ran ok till it got colder with in 3 miles acted up did weird stuff, Did the Jarvis mods such as crimped bent overflow notched the slide and dropped the clip to needle position 1 bike runs even more terrible I did pinch the gasket on the top of the carb in half so maybe that’s why 😡 I cut the slide and opened the hole on the slosh guard a size bigger changed the pilot to a 30 didn’t get to ride it because the pinched the gasket this issue is really making mad.. bike will stay running with the choke on but soon as I turn the choke off and touch the throttle it bogs but it sometimes will burst through the power band and then bog again. (Pic is your slide I just circled what I notched
All you did there was make the pilot jet circuit more efficient, which in turn should make the bike idle better. It is critical that those bike use a minimum of an S-4 needle jet along with a leaner 5.0 slide. The jetting for that bike in upstate NY should be right around. Some of the Jarvis mods are feel good mods and don't add anything useful, but don't hurt performance either.

Needle: 42-74 in the 3rd clip position

Pilot: 32.5 pilot, with an unnotched slide, and a 30 with a notched slide. I wouldn't be afraid to open up that notch on the slide you pictured above a little more.

Main: 490

S-4 jet needle jet---this is critical

Slide: #5 you can either cut yours or purchase one from JD jetting.

Set the air screw at 1.5 turns out to startout with.

Digger I have a 42-75 needle in it now, I just order a 42-74 needle and a S-4 needle jet from KTM dealer that’s closest along with a carb gasket kit from my own error next week they said it’ll be in since it’s Thursday now. Fingers crossed

Not sure what's going on with your bike, but a couple things to check out

- These bikes like to stay warm. You might try blocking a radiator off a little bit to keep the temps up in the 120-130 range where the bike seems happy.

- Research the "Jarvis" mods. There are situations where the float bowl can actually run out of fuel after long pulls, these mods help fuel get into the main jet cavity quicker.

- If these issues just started, it's possible your top end is wearing out. A compression check never hurts.

On mine it was ok but still super finiky after doing everything described in this thread. I did the Jarvis mods and put in a JD jet kit. I haven't had to touch the carb since.

I didn't notice in your previous posts if you had also replaced the jet block gasket. If not please do so. Some Mikunis came through with bad jet block gaskets from the factory, which will cause the bike to run rich all the time.

If you're not going to cut the slide into a #5, or replace with a #5 slide, none of what I posted above will work. It needs to be done in tandem with one another. It's not a piece meal setup to be done one at a time.

How far away from Edelman's KTM are you ? I believe they have all of what you need in stock, with the exception of the slide.

Edit, you already did the mods. Sorry. The JD kit is worth the investment of time and money, but I sure don't regret going SC2.

From my experience the easiest thing to do is just put a 38mm PWK Air Stryker on it. I am getting into 125 set up on our '17 and just bolting that on made it a completely different bike. Worth every penny..........

The back notch is ok, don't go any bigger. Hard to tell with the cutout. Did you drill the float bowl plug too?

The front notch looks better. I can’t tell if you cut the the back side at all. I never saw any benefit to drilling the float bowl plug.

Here’s a stock #4 slide that recently cut into a #5.5.

Looks like you have it set up well, once you get the waiting on parts, should rip. My Mikuni went pretty well with all the mods, etc.

Yes, I made it 1.5mm deeper and wider, and tapered it into the main cut.

Your slide will only need to be cut 1mm for 125's and 150's.

Changed the jet block gasket with a jd kit also go a genuine #5 slide, 42-74 Needle clip 1 and a s-4 needle jet, 1.5 aso 470main 30 pilot is what I put it in the garage with. Ran clip 2 ran 480main and 32.5 pilot. no good, I didn’t do a compression test yet the bike will still hit when it wants though. I wanna cry RN this is nuts I have 11k including the bike into this and the shit doesn’t wanna run proper 😓😓😓

I’m tryna upload a video to the page but it’s right around 1/8 1/4 throttle pilot 30 main 480 I think clip 1 and 1 1/2 turns out. I DIDNT notch the new #5 slide on the little U shape, could this be the reason I don’t remember anybody saying to notch the #5

Have you tried moving the clip down to the 2nd or 3rd clip position? Probably going to need a bigger pilot than a 30 as well with the non notched slide. The main seems fine.

I posted the first pictures of how I cut my slide,,,I also run the clip at top,,stock pilot jet,I think 32.5 in the 18 model, and have 460-500 main jets. I have a adjustable power jet built into back of carb to tune the top end. Another tuning tool is tightening the Power valve. 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 in works with my pipe silencer and head changes. I tried only 2 turns in and it bogged some when launching off line and when landing after it had been screaming in the air.

The spark plug ground electrode is white i gotta just make it as rich as can be and see what happens, current situation is had to cut the throttle cable to get the plastic retaining ring around from the aluminum screw in piece that goes into the slide and what the throttle cable pics up on. So ordered throttle cable plastic retainer and aluminum screw soon as I do that I can sell the carb hahahahaha, but I’ll try to tune it some more then going kiehin with stik
