Shorter will give you more bottom end. A longer silencer will give you more top end over rev. I'll be going with a long PC silencer when I order mine.

Trying to embed a video of my 17 with PC factory sound silencer. Having played with quite few I think this gives it the best spread of power and sounds way better then any fmf or bills I've played with. Highly recommend it. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=1260638554080268&id=100004024079087
I run the same silencer, agreed, over rev was extremely noticeable and better than stock.
I noticed in an earlier post you said you updated your jetting to 2018 specs, I thought jetting was the same for tc ib 17 and 18?
Just curious, what are you running now? 37.5 pilot and 450 main for me....

So I started with their recommendation of using a 440 main and 42.5 pilot with the new 18 needle. It felt good everywhere except had a burble down low. Put the 37.5 pilot in it and that cured it. I jetted it when it was all stock and now I have a pc silencer with v force 4 Reed cage and the bike screams Up top still and pulls forever but the burbe down low is back. I think I might be able to iron it out with clip position but if not I'll be putting a 35 pilot in it. I ride a pretty mixed bag of tight ax style tracks filled with jumps and wide open fast new England mx tracks so I'm trying to find something that works for both without having to change brass. I highly suggest the v force cage to go with your silencer.
I swear that alone made my bike a wheelie machine

This will help anyone with a stock 17 however for anyone with a silencer and or more mods this won't help much. 42.5 is way too rich and makes the bike run like crap . I did notice very little improvementioned to throttle response with it but I would suggest a optional needle from a 05-06 kx125 if you want to see real improvement. Ride a friends 17 250 sx he did this to and felt real crispy off bottom. I'll ask him what the needle was as I feel this will be like the rm needle trick for these new gen 250's. Sorry to hijack thread op to talk about jetting.

i just put in a 5.75 slide, going to see if that clears up the burble.
Had a jd kit, was way too lean for me....

It will, I did with my '18 and it was night and day different. This is the jetting I'm running right now and its super crisp and pulls hard top to bottom.

MJ 490
PJ 37.5
Needle 42-75
Clip 4th position or 3rd depending on temp.
Needle jet s-4
AS 1.5
U4.4 mixed 60:1 with amsoil donionator and this past weekend VP T2. Both are amazing, but T2 is a lot cheaper and its pre mixed at 40:

If you run C12 this is the jetting that worked best for that.
MJ 470
PJ 32.5
Needle 42-75
Clip 4th position
Needle jet s-4
AS 2.0
C12 mixed 60:1 with amsoil donionator

Again, C12 is a awesome fuel, but u4.4 and T2 make more power. As in noticeable when riding more power. T2 is also cheaper than C12.

Ive got an 18 TC250, first mod was V-force 4 and so much nicer. Attempted a full PC system but after waiting 6 + weeks for the works pipe i ended up running the R-304 shorty with the factory pipe, i didnt like it, far too snappy for me comming off a lifetime of 4 strokes. Ordered an FMF factory fatty and a titanium power core 2.1, put the soft powervalve spring in and loved it, pulled smooth and hard all gears. Jetting was pretty spot on from the start but i bought a 38mm HV lectron kit, couldnt be happier, im getting more acustomed to the way the bike works so im slowly ramping up the powervalve each time i go out and i may try the PC shorty again but non of the pipes and silencer pull as smooth as the stock pipe and silencer would like to try them with the Lectron.

I have a 2018 TC250 and put the Husky Fmf turbinecore 2.1 on it for the sprknarrestor. Using belray 60:1 it runs great, and seems to be perfect for what I need. I want to get a 49 tooth sprocket to see if that helps but overall I like it.

I just put the 49t on my 17 tc250, along with a PC works pipe and R304 silencer, world of difference. Power seems more linear, pulls farther and longer. Rode it back to back against a stock 17 with a VForce 4R and stock gearing and pipe/silencer. The stocker felt like it hit harder but fell off quicker, forcing awkward shifts. The 49t took some punch away, but the shift points seem more natural. Somewhat Counter intuitively for taller gearing, I tend to run a gear higher now and lug the bike.

You are getting more over rev with the shorter R304 silencer?

I've put a R304 then a PC works on mine. It seems odd given the difference in lenght but the silencer alone made virtually no change for me, the pipe made all the changes mentionned (power seems more linear, pulls farther and longer).

I just got a 2019 it seems the pipes and silencers have changed since 2018. Long story short I can get an R304 now. The 304 and FMF powercore 2 are not available yet. Really don't want the powercore 2.1 which is out now but too massive. Thanks

I may go this route as both are available now. Not a lot for the 2019 250SX yet. Thanks

The mounting tab is moved from the frame to the engine mount on the '19.
