Bike starts normal and within about 15 seconds of starting it will die. I can start it again but the same thing continues to happen over and over again. Bike has been sitting for multiple years.

Please help me get pointed in the right direction!

If it dies but just stalling out. Replace the fuel injector, fuel hose, and fuel pump and filter. If the bike sat for years, it most defintely has stuff sitting in the lines

X2 plus check all vent lines a critters love to build nest in them whick causes a reduced air flow and this causes reduced fuel flow.

Probably fuel related as already stated but for what its worth I had the same bike a few years back and turns out the crank had started to fail and starved the top end of oil wearing the cam journals and would do this exact thing. After looking at the fuel system maybe pull the head and cams and have a quick look just in case

The bike has very little time on it so I fairly certain that the crank is ok but I will keep that in mind. Hoping to tear into it over the weekend. Thanks all!

Got fuel pump out and this is what pump filter looks like. Can I get by cleaning filter or buying one of them all balls fuel pump rebuild kits?

Also, I should have clarified that to me it did not sound like a fuel starvation issue in that it was a very fast shut off. Like it starts, runs for 10-15 seconds and instantly dies. This bike has less than 20 hours on it from new.

Im almost 99% positive once you have replaced/cleaned your fuel system your bike will run fine. The filter though is not really something you can clean out. Must replace

As Paw Paw said, check vent(s). If your fuel cap/vent hose is plugged, it will run for a bit...until it doesn’t. The fuel leaving the tank needs air to replace it.

New fuel pump is in and found a video for cleaning injectors. Wish me luck.

Already gentlemen. Sorry for the span between posts. I rebuilt fuel pump with all balls kit, cleaned injectors, and checked all connections. I powered up fuel pump with 12 volts and she spat gas like a water hose. When I put bike together it wont fire. Clearly its not getting fuel as it will start with starting fluid. Thoughts? Running out of things to do and hate the thought of having to take it to someone else to fix.

test electrical to injector, make sure injector is working

Isn’t there a tip over sensor on these bikes so when u lay it over it shuts off the engine at a specific time? I remember installing one upside on a rmz450 and it would start but shut off at a specific amt of seconds

Which is exactly what it was doing before I replaced fuel pump. Injectors appear to be ok. I hooked up 12v and rigged up a make shift way of spraying carb cleaner and they both sprayed nice streams. I am thrown off by it starting easily prior to replacing fuel pump, although, it would shut off after a few seconds. Now, after cleaning injectors and new fuel pump, it will not fire without starting fluid so obviously its a fuel related issue.

May work out of bike doesn't mean works in the bike
run down the electrical-voltage reg, condenser

Connect injector to bike out of the body and see if sprays fuel

Can you expand on that? I am not super knowledgeable on electronics but would like to learn. I hate the thought of having someone else fix my bike.

Ideally you’d clean the injectors out with that handy tool from motion pro but it’s like $100+

What Factor E is suggesting to do is... pull each injector out of the throttle body & intake boot while the injector is still connected to the bike’s wiring harness & fuel line. Then attempt to start the bike and inspect the fuel injectors for a healthy spray of fuel. It should mist fuel.

Check TPS output voltage as well if after you see the injectors working properly under the bike’s own power supply.

Was able to get to this yesterday finally. I am not getting fuel out of injectors even though fuel pump is pumping fuel. Whats next? Thanks for all the help!

Check the tip over sensor like someone else said. If it does at the same time every time then that is probably what is wrong

Need to make sure your getting power to injector.
test light or meter to connector test for power
If nothing its a harness problem
Trace wires back from injector for damage or pinched wires
Test capcitor
