110/85 19 vs 110/90 19

would i notice a difference, cost savings is HUUUUGE
please don't flame me, did a search couldn't find much, Im assuming the tire would have 5mm less height than the 110/90?

It will make side walls a bit stiffer, but not a real issue.

The second number is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width (first number).

110/85 = 93.5mm sidewall
110/90 = 99.0mm sidewall

So techinically a 5.5mm sidewall difference.

The 110/85 is 1.5% smaller circumference and 5% shorter sidewall. You probably wont notice much difference.

Is a stiffer sidewall help more on a soft track to dig down for traction? I've noticed Jason Anderson and Ryan Dungey ran a 120/80-19 on their bikes when they come with a 120/90-19.

It just means the tread will not move around as much on side loads. It will make the suspension seem a but harder, but no big deal.
I must also state that I have not seen a 110 85 19 tire in use. What brand is it?

I was going to say the same thing. Who makes a 110/85-19? I always knew 110/90 and 110/80, but never 110/85

Pirelli claim the tyre is different more than just the profile. They say the 85 has the knobs spaced more apart. Also lighter than the 90
