07 KX250 two stroke - top triple clamp removal

4/17/2018 2:06pm
The top clamp on my '07 KX250 is not cooperating with me or the dead-blow I'm using. Did Kawasaki begin pressing on both ends of the clamp?

More importantly, what tool(s) are needed for removal? I can't see how I'd fit the entire thing (with frame still attached) in my shop press not that I'd even want to.

Soak it with some penetrating oil like liquid wrench or PB blaster. I’ve had trouble getting old triples off before as well. They usually come around with enough lube and hammering.

Phrasing.

You took the nuts off from the stem correct? Every set of clamps I’ve taken apart, the bottom will drop out as soon as the nuts come off. Smack the stem downward. Put a pillow or something underneath so you don’t smash your bottom clamp into the floor.

Kroil and a dead blow did the trick. Gracias, senor.
