I recently did an off-road build on my 2006 cr250. Motor mods include a Lectron carb, vforce reeds and fmf gnarly/turbine core. First ride on the bike using 93 pump gas I experienced some pretty harsh pinging sounds under a heavy load. (i think) After experimenting I tried running some race gas just to see (VP c12) and the bike ran perfect. so then i switched back the pump 93 and tried to adjust the carb even though Lectron says there pretty much good to go out of the box. the issue got better but didn't go away fully. I didn't think i would need race gas (or just higher octane) for these mods but maybe im wrong? My next step will be trying a 50/50 ratio of VP and pump gas. Wondering if anyone has a similar bike set up and what fuel they are running? or possibly could this be another issue that the race fuel is hiding? Yes im a 2stroke noob and this is my first one.

Sounds like you need to adjust your Lectron to a richer setting. Use a flat blade screw driver bit and turn the screw on top of the carb out slightly. Make small adjustments. Start with turning it out about 1/8 of a turn.

If it's pinging it's running lean. That top screw for the adjusemt is for wide open throttle. You need to adjust the metering rod to be richer by taking top cap off carb and pulling the slide out. Turn the rod clockwise to shorten the needle to richen it up. Andake sure the flat side of needle faces motor. I would call lectron if need more help, there customer service is top notch

I would add that when you you go richer on the metering rod you probably should go back to the original starting point on the top screw. Then start from there. Lectron instructions say the metering rod adjustments fix the majority of jetting issues. It also says to open/richer up the top screw a half turn for deep sand/loam conditions. Irecently purchased a Lectron for my 05cr250 and had a lean bog right out of the box while riding deep sand. The instructions said to go richer on the metering rod a quarter turn at a time. I run pretty much same set up with vforce and pc works pipe and shorty silencer. I’m at sea level mixed 40:1 run 50/50 110 oct. and 91 ethanol free. I ended up having to go half a turn on metering rod and half a turn richer on top screw. This got rid of the lean condition for me. Hope this helps.
