06 RM250 Frame Paint?

Edited Date/Time 4/19/2019 9:09am
I have an 06 RM250 with very little hours but the frame is showing wear on it. Is there a "quick and easy" way to fix this without having to powder coat? Is there perhaps a special spray can to fix this? Also, I don't want to simply cover it up with grip tape.

If you rattle can it, it will wear right off again after you paint it, unless you cover it with grip tape or frame guards.

Yea, you're right. But I want to have the frame in good condition before I "hide" the cosmetic flaws. haha

The color code is YU8, and it is called Flint Gray Metallic. Call Color-Rite at 800-736-7980 or Touch Up Direct at 818-600-8160 for the precise paint. I think both companies offer it in spray and touch up pens as well as regular cans.

Thanks for that extra info. I decided on Color Rite! I appreciate everyone for the info/help, I'll post some photos after it's all done! Cheers,

True Story!
Your guys can thank me (or not) for that frame color!

Way back in the mid 70's as a young man I raced Stock Cars at Cajon Speedway and gun metal gray was my frame color of choice

Fast forward about 15 years and I'm helping some 125 novice kids race their Suzukis at CMC Goldenstate and WMGP type races. I hated those yellow frames...and the blue was just as bad!

I found a quart of my old color paint and painted one of our frames.

Another kid from the area, Ray T. had been working at Suzuki for awhile having started as Scott Burnworth's mechanic. Ray may or may not have kicked us some good parts once in awhile (I cant remember)

Anyway, Ray saw our frame and thought it looked great...A year or so later the new bikes came out with my frame color!

I called Ray up in Brea and said "you SOB stole my frame color!" I can still hear the laughter on the other end of the phone.....Smile

Wow, that frame is nice! Definitely matches the stock color. Did you do the whole frame or just touch ups on that one? Also, what kind of prep work did you have to do? I'm a rookie in this area Pinch

A friend painted his 2005 RM250 with Colorrite primer, color and clear. It looked as good as new. It wasn't close or similar. It was the exact same appearance. No. It's not cheap. They have it in rattle can and in liquid for spraying.

Wait a while before applying any clear tape, etc. onto a painted item.

If you paint it up until the area behind the tank, you won't have to worry about blending it in so much. You and others will see the side frame rails, then the tank, then the frame around the steering tube. The tank visually breaks it up.
