04' yz 250 or 05' rm 250

Both are at the same price, and are relatively the same condition. Never owned a 250 2 stroke before. What should I look out on these two bikes ?
Thanks in advance.

The yz hands down. That bikes entire motor and some of the chassis parts are identical to the brand new yzs. Youll have a plethora of parts and aftermarket stuff for years to come. Plus with a plastic restyle kit that thing will look sick af. Plus the yz is a fantastic bike in general. Also theres a shit ton of info on engine tuning on the yz.

Thanks for the info, that was exactly what I was thinking but I don't hear people talking about RM's that much and it really made me wonder

Have owned an 04 YZ250 & an 06 RM250 (similiar to the 05). If those are your only choices my vote would go to the YZ hands down. The YZ has a much better chassis when it comes to high speed stability. The trade off is it doesn't turn as well as the RM. The engines are also polar opposites with the YZ making it's power from low-mid & the RM making it's power from mid-top. The YZ powerband is more user friendly in comparison.
As mentioned above Yamaha is still producing the YZ & it's basically the same bike with an AF chassis. So getting parts shouldn't be an issue.

If you like to haul ass and go straight buy the Yz.
If you like railing any turn with ease buy the RM.
I own both and both are great bikes.

06-08 is supposed to be better than the '05? I would go with the YZ; parts are everywhere, they still make everything for the motor, and it's a GREAT all around bike.

Yep. The 05 RM250 model was new & Suzuki refined it through the 06-08 yrs.. So it's basically the same platform with refinements. The 05-08 models are an improvement to previous 04 & older yr. models.

I agree that the YZ will have more parts readily available but I wouldn't trade my 05 RM for anything.
