Evening all,
Its that time again to do the top end. Bike runs great no problems, just want to freshen it up a bit. Went to Service Honda and my OEM piston is no longer available. Pin, bearing, clips, and rings are, but no piston. Can someone please recommend a top of the line replacement for OEM, std bore. Also, why one over the other if you have experience with a couple choices.
Lastly, are OEM Honda pistons cast or forged?
Thank you all.

I've been using and recommending the WISECO elite series piston past couple of years in my personal stuff and any engines I build. Everything they say about them seems to be true. Very advanced two stroke pistons.
I stopped using cast ones in the mid 2000’s. The forged material is much better for durability & longevity. I saw a few friends / fellow riders bikes have cast pistons break apart & have catastrophic engine failures.

OP - Forgot to add in case you’re not familiar with forged pistons it is very crucial to properly warm up the engine (when cool) before each ride.
If not, you’re risking the engine to a potential cold seizure.
The forged material expands at a different rate vs. the cast substrate.
