Hey guys, I’ve been looking for a screw/bolt/fastener kit for a 2001 YZ250. I really don’t want to spend $70 on OEM screws for the rear fender. BOLT only makes em for 02-17 YZ’s.

I really only need it for the rear fender, I’m thinking about just ordering one of each and taking it to the hardware store and matching em up so I save a lot of $. Any ideas?

Well if its the small square inner fender nut, you can get them for $3.87 each from Yamaha Part# 90183-06023-00

I’m looking at the collars and the inserts on the fender that I need as well. Cool, I’ll proab just buy one of each bolt and size them up.

I'm assuming you can come up with the metric bolts, but if you want the specific collars ($3.49 each 90387-0701A-00) and the square nuts on back ($3.87 each 90183-06023-00) it would be about $15.

Having said that, it looks like that 2002+ "Bolt" kit will have pieces for the rear fender.

Go to Spec Bolt http://www.store.specbolt.com/ and look at their Nickel Works series.

You can buy small quantities of all the popular sizes and they will have the correct thread pitch, thread size and hex head size. Seems like when I'm trying to match up stuff at the store, it's never really just right. Plus they are flanged and dished.

They also have sections for plastic hardware, both kits and individual pieces.

At $5, $6, and $7 per pack of 5 bolts...that is the answer you were looking for? I would think the "Bolt" kit you already ordered would save you more money.

Yes, I’m capable of going on a site and looking up part numbers. Multiply those $5-7 a bolt by 20 and you might realize that $15 for an entire kit is much cheaper than $100 buying each OEM bolt separately.

I think I misunderstood. In your first post it sounded like you just needed a plastic bolt kit, and not even a full kit, just a few bolts for the rear fender.

Have you looked at the tusk bolt kits? They are true to the OEM style (no dished head) and really cheap
. Add in a few machine specific kits for the extra machined washers and odd shaped swingarm slider collars and such and you can get a pretty nice set up.

I’ve got the spec bolt kit, just ended up going through all of the plastic bolts because it didn’t have a full set and I didn’t want to buy an entire new kit just for those bolts. Didn’t know they made flange bolt specific kits
