ive heard 4-6 hours, ive heard 24 hrs.....how long does everyone do it, and what have the results been? does leaving plates in oil for 24 hours compared to 6ish hours really make a big difference? thanks!

Throw them in a bag Piece by piece soaked in oil the night before and toss them in the next day whenever I get around to it. Never failed me except for my stock rm clutches I smoked those no matter what I did.

Smoked them huh? I have an Rm250 and I ordered wiseco clutch plates so hopefully they won't burnout

Leaving clutch plates in oil doesnt do anything. If they "absorbed" oil, they would swell and thus not work like a clutch.

Just coating them before you put them in is fine.

That's a good point. But then why has everyone else said that it takes hours or an overnight soak before you should put them in?

Old wives tale. I just coat them and put them in wet, real wet. Never had a problem, Suzuki, Honda, etc. Did not matter.

I soak mine in gearbox oil, while installed in the gearbox.

I preferred oem only on my RM 250 after some issues w/ another brand. Barnett. Springs were different also in the kit I bought compared to oem.

And ATF type F works really good... Smoked my other brand in 30 mins at a sand track running fresh MTL ....black and funky Smile

... Do a search
Oem for rm's seem to be the best choice by far

some Rm's not all have clutches why idk that just will not take any abuse I had two identical 05 Rm 125 and 250 ' s one of each I couldn't keep a clutch in for long the others lasted. Hinson wiseco or rekluse are always a good idea on them.

I just drop my disk in a bowl and cover them in oil. Then start installing them wet.

Same as the other guys have said, I've only ever coated them and put them straight in. Always been fine.

I never soak them that long.
submerge them in oil and then start installing. I like EBC clutch kits cause the package works perfect for this.

This is how I do it as well, just enough to get a good coat on everything then let er rip. They'll be soaking in the gearbox anyhow so it really shouldn't matter

Moto455 is 100% correct.

"Everyone else" are a bunch of parrots repeating what others have said.
