crf250r 08 impossible to cold start

I can only start, when cold, by push starting the bike! We have checked the valve clearances and replaced exhaust shims. Making us think the problem is in the carburetor. Does anyone know which Jet we should be look at to adjust? Or any other causes?

had the same problem with my 08 recently. intake valves were shot, replaced them did leak down test everything was ok. Put bike back together, still wouldnt start. Tore it back apart, checked piston & rings. one ring was stuck. cleaned it and it starts fine now.

If you idle is set too low or your fuel screw is not set correctly, you will have starting issues. With that said, the most likely and known reason for hard starting in your bike is valve sealing issues. Just shimming the valves does not address the valve sealing as they elongate and the valve heads cup and cut groves in the heads valve seats that make the problem only get worst. It is time to look at your valves.
