WD40 works just fine. Spray your pipe down after a wash or periodically during the off season to protect it. If a rust spot appears scuff with a scotch brite pad. That's what I do with my factory fatty pipe

Same as above with the WD40 for me too. There are always places that I can't reach and the pipe has to eventually come off to keep up on the hard to reach places. I just recently pulled it off and hit the whole thing with Naval Jelly. Holy balls I was impressed with how that stuff works. The pipe looks better than it did when I bought it.

You're good to go, a bud of mine would eat it if he could, it may be raw metal's new best friend from what he said. I'm kicking the idea around of having my PC pipe anodized flat black, I wonder if anodizing would put an end to pipe maintenance ? and sorry to get off subject OP. Try it and give a report back, raw pipe owner's would like to know.

There's something happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear.

You can only anodize aluminum or titanium. Andozing will dissolve steels

You should be able to get it nickel plated.... That will still look trick and should help with the rust... However I strongly advise getting the surface polished because the plating will highlight any surface imperfections.... Just my 2c

If it ain't broke-learn how to fix it anyways!

Don't powder coat. Get it ceramic coated flat black if that's what you really want...

Someone here told me about Corrosion X. If that ain't the best stuff on the planet for any and all types of corrosion prevention (including your bike's electrical connectors) I'll let you race my super-trick YZ250.

My buddy uses jewellers polish on his heads on his harley, works like a charm. If you clean it up nice just use WD40 and scotchbrite pads. There is also a trick with tinfoil.

Sack up and roll with the boys.

CLR and a scotch brite pad then WD40 or equivalent. Wear gloves with the CLR

Thanks for all the suggestions. I have been using wd40 and even the wd40 with silicon which works pretty well. I may throw some of this on before the next gncc and see how it holds up. If it does not seem to work I may pick up some of the products you guys have mentioned.

Edit: just watched a video of the Corrosion X and I may have to pick up some of that. Looks like it works great on removing rust

I'm interested to see how that stuff stacks up, Nothing like a natural finish 2 smoke pipe. Reminds me of the old factory 2 strokes.
