I am trying to decide if the 4 Cylinder twin turbo Mercedes Sprinter motor is big enough for the 170 wheel base chassis. It seemed to drive nice. Does anyone own one or have any advice?

Save some money and get a GM van with a Duramax in it.

I have a freightliner version. Could not be happier with the way it runs and the mileage we get.

The GM vans with the Duramax do not have the Allison transmission. The Allison is physically too big to fit in the space designated for the transmission on those vans, so they put what is normally a gas-pot tranny in them and de-tuned the motor so that hopefully the tranny would live. Depending on the year of the van it is either a 4l80E (earlier models) or a 6l90 (later models). The Duramax engine in a van is also a royal pain in the ass to work on. 10 pounds of shit in a 5 pound bag.

Personally, I think that a Chevy van with a gas motor is the way to go.

My company has thousands of Sprinters. Do yourself a favor and get something else. They rust out easy if you live in the salt belt, rear ends are crap and parts aren't cheap. I for one am looking at the Nissan vans.
