Pulled a neglected xr70 out of my gf's garage the other day and I'm determined to get this thing running again! She says it's probably been sitting at least 5-7 yrs. I already drained the tank of it's toxic green gas and confirmed the petcock is stuck in the open position. The filter screen crumbled when i picked it up
I've gotten many non-running engines running in the past by simply pulling and cleaning the jets but never anything that's been sitting this long. Do i have to worry about the float possibly being rotted?
Should i get some penetrating oil down in the valves/cylinder before attempting to start?

I'd take out the spark plug and just spray a little bit of WD40 down there and leave it sit overnight.
