So this weekend I went riding with a couple buddies that have YZ 125s. Before day 2 we checked our filters and the YZ's were filthy. My RM looked almost as clean as it did when I put it in before we started riding the day before. We rode roughly the same amount and I was amazed at the difference. Does anyone have any reasoning behind why the RM stays cleaner?

You're engine might not be sucking in as much O2 as the rest of the bikes. Is your bike running normally? Do you feel it has enough power? Does it feel like there is a lack in power off the throttle?

Power wise it is fine. It runs great. Both YZs just had a top end rebuild and the RM has some hours on it, but it's not wore out. Does that plastic cover over an RM air filter make that much difference? I wouldn't think that could be it, but I have no idea. I'm just curious. We all have new twin air filters as well.

What oil do you use? That can directly reflect what gets trapped in it.

Yes. My rm is a 125 as well.

I use pj1 air filter oil. The black and red can. I can't recall the name right off. One of the yzs used the same oil and the other used silkolene.
