Trying to decide which clamps to purchase for my YZ250.

I have no previous experience with any of the three so anyone with input please jump in and let me know what you did or did not like.

At the moment, I am leaning towards the Ride clamps just due to being able to use the showa steering dampener behind the front number plate.

I want something that is rubber mounted at least, and I have had a set of RG3 clamps which worked fairly well before.

Just looking for something different this time around.

I've got the ride engineering clamps on a suzuki. They are well made, and lighter than the stock ones. Plus, they have the option of the Honda hspd damper.

How does the dampener work?

I have the X-Trig clamps on my bike...had them on my previous one too. The version I have is the KTM one, but they're essentially the same. I like the PDHS bar mount system where you can change the stiffness of the rubber and dial in how much dampening you like. The new ROCS system looks pretty nice too. I happen to have the older style clamps that are non-ROCS. You can't go wrong either way.

Nekken is your most expansive option. I've never ridden with a set to say if they're worth the price tag or not.

I have the Nekken SFS clamps.

It's pretty fking awesome. It's like having an extra set of shocks. I didn't notice them until I bottomed them out...which is a good thing i guess. You don't actually feel them moving like you would a flex bar. But, when you bottom the forks and bottom the SFS its like a double wammy. They are easy to adjust because all you do is add some air pressure. I found 60-70psi to be a sweet spot with the most travel without bottoming.

That being said, they came on the bike when i bought it.
Would I buy it if it were my money? Not unless I had money to burn. I'd rather put it towards suspension.

Oh, and don't let a steering dampener be the deciding factor for your a triple clamp setup. It is ridiculously easy to get a machine shop to make a mount and then drill and tap the bottom triple for a HPSD. Last setup I made cost me $150, that included the cost of the damper and the machine shop to make me a mount.

Thanks Shane.

How does the PDHS compare to say an RG3 rubber mounted triple clamp?

Like you mentioned, I do like the option to change the stiffness of the rubber.

Thank you for the info man.

I hadnt thought of that option of just drilling and tapping the lower clamp.

Do you have any photos of how you did yours?

Not sure if i have any of it installed on the bike but i still have the mount from when i had it on my kx250f. Its pretty basic, just some thick flat stock with a short peice of round stock welded on and then drilled and tapped. Ill see if i can get some pics.

There are some companies that make mounts just for the hspd for the 250sx because there isnt any mounting holes on the steering neck. Im sure the same can be found for the yz if you dont have any mounting holes.
