Getting my 08 kx450 modded by Tom Morgan Racing. Whole motor pretty much is getting done. Putting an fmf exhaust set-up on it while im at it. Has anyone on here ever modded there 450 out and if so, were you grinning from ear to ear when it was done and rode it for the first time.

I guess my question to you vital mx guys is, has anyone on here ever modded a 450. What mods did you do to it and what kind of power were you getting out of it. Who did the work and did it help you at the track. Even if its not a 450, share what you did to any other bikes you have had modified.

I had the stage 2 hot cams, ported-polished head and high compression piston too, but in a suzuki. You should be expecting a smooth, very strong power that pulls to the moon. With the stage 2 cams, they are made to give the bike a ton of over-rev, so kinda makes it like riding a 250f. at least thats what I felt like, but then again im a revver!

I like to rev the crap out of my bike also. Old habits die hard.

Suspension is as far as I've got for a 450, is there really a need for more power out of a 450? I mean, are you pulling a trailer or something?

No not pulling a trailer. Alot of vets have the money to build a real race bike. Not just ride a bone stock machine. From what i have heard, a modified bike even a 450 is actually easier to ride with the extra ponies. And who doesnt want to show up at the track this spring with a full blown race bike, & not just snazzy graphics.

Well guys, i got my motor back from Tom Morgan Racing. I must say after getting it jetted correctly and breaking it in, i think its a really really fast motor. It feels like fuel injection with a carb mod done to it. Also the thing revs to the moon. Im pretty confident a holeshot is in my future soon. Even with the mods, its actually easier to ride. Its more predictable with how the power comes on and man, do i LOVE speed. Thought i would give you guys a heads up now that its done.

my 2006 CRF 450 is ported & polished, custom web cam with lager buckets (cam so big it wouldnt clear) custom del west valvetrain, custom valve seats and guides (moldstar 90), CP platinum kit and head milled a little extra to make it 14.25:1, crank is weighted, carb taper bored and a custom made MRD-RACING exhaust system., i pretty much put it in fourth and leave it there! puts just a hair under 70hp to the wheel on pump gas, and about 71 on C12 with jetting changes.

it still goes 40hrs between top ends, and 200 between cranks, longevity has not been an issue and i just laugh when someone else says their 450 feels fast after they put a pipe on it!

i built the bike this way to showcase the absolute best of my skillset to my customers, people come up saying they want a full national caliber 450 and i let them ride mine, they proceed to soil themselves and want nothing to do with a mod 450 for another 2-3 months, then they come back saying theyve gotta have it!

Derek Anderson holeshot the Elsinore national last year on a stock 450 motor. He also scored some top 10 moto finishes with just suspension work and a pipe.
