I'm an idiot...and bike won't start

So my yz250 fires on the second kick but immediately shuts off. I kick it ~10 times before I realize the reason it wont start is I left the airbox cover on. Blush Took that off, put a fresh filter on but no luck. Won't even try to start. It's a '14 that always starts 1st or 2nd kick. Is it possible something got jacked by trying to start with the airbox completely blocked?

Sounds flooded. Try holding the throttle wide open (no choke) and try to start it that way. It will run crappy for a few seconds and then clean out. Be sure you are getting a good Blue spark at the plug first as it may be fouled too.

Don't think you hurt anything..... I've actually heard of people unplugging clogged jets with that technique. They get the engine going, then block the air intake and create a super suction until it dies and it's supposed to pull the gunk out.

Like Paw Paw said, it's likely flooded.

I've done this after a winter of work. Got home after 4 months on the road and I forgot to put a filter in my bike. I still had the filter block on. Basically you just pulled a lot of gas into the cylinder. I had to remove my spark plug and kick it over and then let it air out for a few hours. Started right up after that.
