Has anyone had experience with the HGS pipes?

Varner will be building my son a KX supermini and I was curious about the HGS pipes on the KX. I did see a dyno chart showing about 1.5 hp on top over the PC and same power curve everywhere else. The FMF and the PC run almost identical.

Opinions?

From what I've seen/heard they make good products. I'm from the Netherlands (where HGS is based and made) so a lot of people are running a HGS pipe here and I never really hear complaints. The price/quality ratio is pretty good.

I have a HGS system on my SXF 450 and i like it way more than my old FMF 4.1 system.

The HGS system is pretty popular by 85 riders here in Finland also.

Im hearing on a ktm 2 stroke they are superior to the u.s built pipes, I ve tried them all on my 15 300sx , havent got my hands on a hgs yet, but the new scalvini is very impressive

Great pipes. Nice build quality and seem to hold up well over time. The full system on our RM125 has survived multiple crashes and stoney tracks, it sounds great and gives a nice broad boost to the powerband.

We've (www.f1moto.com.au) testing a lot of exhausts time & again HGS prove to be the weapon of choice.
On our dyno the HGS is worth 0.5HP over the Pro Circuit.
Half a horsepower is significant on a mini bike.
We also have special VHM heads & hi inertia cranks for the KX 85's.

Hello flmoto. How does the hgs compare to the FMF? Over the past few years we have used and been sponsored by FMF. I'm having Terry Varner build the motor and we are stroking only (no overbore).

On another subject what about the vortex ignition?

Hi,
Not tested the FMF on the KX 85.
In a lot of instances they look similar to the HGS.
HGS is what we use & recommend.
We have pipes in stock ready to ship if you'd like to try one ?

Vortex ignitions are worth playing with.
Having the functionality to switch between 2 maps is good (start/race map).

Hope this helps ?

Have you tested pipes for 2004 rm 125? I've narrowed it down to either pc bills or hgs

Never tested any Bills pipes.
PC make good nice fitting products.
Done very little with the RM 125's not super popular here.
Any 3 of those pipes would be a good choice.
I guess it depends on whether you want to be a leader or a follower ?
Lots of happy customers over here on HGS pipes. We sell a heap of them every year.

Can you shed some light on the part number that I need for a vhm head for an 04 rm 125. You have promoted them before on here. For 05 and up there is a specific part number for different vhm heads (according to your parts catalogue). There isn't a specific part number for the 04 rm 125 tho

VHM part numbers.

AA33069 - Suzuki RM125 '98-'04
Use with insert: AE32088-... - Suzuki RM125 '98-'04, Spareparts: SK33078 - Sealkit

We generally only stock later model bikes.
However we can direct ship from VHM to you.

Let me know if you'd like one we can get it happening.

Sorry to drag up a old thread.
Have you done any testing with the dep pipes on the KX85s? Apparently they do a lot of testing with the youth team green lads.
Don’t suppose you have a dyno graph of the hgs compared to standard?
Cheers, Tom.

Don't be scared to branch out from "the standard" pc and fmf. The euro stuff is great.

+2 Been running a Doma for 13 yrs. on an 03 CR250r & an HGS I bought for an 06 CR2 last year. IMHO they're better than the PC or FMF pipes. They provide modest gains across the rpm range from off idle to the top revs. The FMF or PC pipes move the powerband around in comparison. The Doma or HGS are the only pipes I tested that outperformed the oem pipes.

Yep, we tried about 8 different pipes when running YZ85s. Best ones were HGS & DEP. Heard Domas were great also but never did track one down to try. FMF, PC etc were worse than stock, imo.....

Dan Crower built my '17 Husky 350 motor and recommended the HGS pipe. Dynoed at 63 HP. Dan definitely knows what he's doing, and recommends them for Husky/KTM motors

used a DEP pipe on my 2013 YZ 250 for 2 years liked it more than the PC set up, more smooth transition from low mid top. it has more low and mid, and just as much over rev as the pc pipe
