Got a 2008 rm 250

Edited Date/Time 5/16/2015 2:37pm
I have a 2008 rm 250 and i am looking to put a big bore kit in it.

Ive researched up on big bore kits for them from 265cc to 330cc kits on australian (265 max found in Au) and overseas sites prices range in au from $700 to $1600 and thats if you send away your top end for machining/exchange. ($1600 for a 265 kit in au)

I was wondering if there are any options a little cheaper then going to a machinest and having it done custom costing more money, with a little research i have found that the yz250 motors are very similar to the rm250 motors and wondering if i buy a complete big bore kit of 290cc for $1000 with the pot, cylinder, head everything etc if it will bolt onto my 2008 rm250 bottom end if the yz250 kit is the same year model?
Thanks in advance

Don't go big bore due to the fact that your pipe will not work properly with the larger cc engine. You'll need a custom built and tuned header.

Yeah i thought that i would have to get my pipe customised and stuff.

ill get some photos of the bike on here soon its currently pulled down into a million pieces ready to rebuild.

and i wanted to go big bore purely for more grunt and power, plus never seen a big bore rm250 have you?

Call Tommorganracing, advise not going bigger than 265, crank case volume not larger enough to work right

Contact Eric Gorr Racing for the facts on big bore performance and what is required to make it run right. A 265 is a pieceof cake and will have more grunt with the more everywhere porting.

Do you have one, or are you just buying in to the hype? If you have one, please right a review.

Check out the 2-stroke Suzuki section on Thumpertalk, there are a few reviews of big bore RMs to be found.
