Footpeg bent backwards?

Edited Date/Time 9/21/2015 10:08am
Hi!

I had a crash about a week ago where I managed to bend the left (shifter side) footpeg backwards. I figured it must've been the footpeg itself and not the black mount it's secured in. I recently bought a pair of SCAR footpegs for replacement. Shiny, new. Got them mounted on yesterday, what I did was this:

1) bent out the securing clip and pulled it out
2) knocked out the little bolt
3) removed spring along with old footpeg
4) cleaned bolt, spring and the mount.
5) Aligned footpeg with bolt hole and put the bolt far enough through to just enter the first hole on the peg itself, then I placed the spring in, squeezed it on and knocked the bolt back through.
6) re-bent securing clip.

The left one is a LOT better, but they're both still somewhat bent backwards. Any idea on why this is? Both pegs are brand new, and fitted on my 2013 model KX250F. The mounts connected to the frame are stock AFAIK.

The right peg wasn't "bent" when the old peg was on, so I figured it has to do with the mounting piece or something blocking - perhaps incompatibility? - the pegs came in a small box labeled KX250F/450F.

Attaching a few images for you to see. Anything you could suggest or spot?

Did you try flipping them to the other side? Are the bolts bent?

I don't think I can swap the sides, the peg looks to fit only 1 side each. Don't know if the bolts are bent, but kind of weird because it's a little "bent" on the right side as well.

Look at the stop tab on the pegs. They may need to be ground down as the "bend" is in the direction of the peg movement.

Exactly what i was thinking. Some pegs also use a bolt for a stop so its adjustable.

If you have to grind it just make SURE there is still enough meat leftover.
I had a the same issue with some alu pitbike pegs and the metal compressed over time and ended up folding the peg forward...not a fun day.
