I like the Emig lock on grips. They are pretty durable and obviously do not twist. I hate using glue and wire. Glue makes removal a mess.

I have a set of normal ODI lock on's on my kx250. They are half waffles, but feel larger in diameter compared to the Emigs. I have small hands so I prefer the smaller diameter grip.

I used to run renthal kevlars. Also pretty nice grips if you don't want lock on's.

ProTaper Pillow Tops. Adhered by hairspray, three runs of safety wire.

Renthal soft full diamond. I've had good luck putting them on with an air compressor. The zip tye method works well too.

I like renthal Kevlar grips, although they don't seem to last as well as other grips.
I'm keen to try a full diamond grip so think the next pair will be the soft renthals.

Used Renthal all my life, recently switched to PT pillow top. Clear spray paint & nothing else.

Prefer Renthal Kevlar - Use ODI as I like the mounting system.

ODI needs an option for grip choice....u install...

Then we would be back to wiring and gluing them on!

Renthal Diamond Grips, can not stand any grips with so called waffles. Hockey tape and gasoline makes them stick real good.

Actually they're not glued, they are vulcanized onto the factory sleeve/housing. Just like a standard MTB lock on grip.

I like Renthal Tapered in soft compound. I want to try their new sticky compound.

Renthal Full Waffle - Soft

Remove 2 rows of full waffle from the full width of the grip. This creates a kind of 3/4 waffle grip
Fit the grip with the trimmed flat portion a few degrees back from top dead centre, so your palm sits on the flat portion.

Got the idea from Tomacs bike in an old Vital Pit Bits.
The ultimate grip and cushion, I can relax my hands more with this style grip than any other I've ever used

Don't knock it till you try it!

Question for the emig grip fans, are they hard on the hands? Every time I've felt them in the shop, they feel like they are made of concrete. Wont run anything but ODI rufians on my MTB, so I have been wanting to go bolt on with the moto but can't seem to get over the throttle side feeling either too thick or too hard.

Current set up: ODI half waffle, held on with 3M "strong' spray trim adhesive and 2 double strips of safety wire. The trick is not to use too much glue. My grips NEVER come loose.

If ODI would make a Ruffian lock on i would never buy another grip. Ever. Hands down the best grip made. I have ruffians on every bike i own except my mx bike. I have Renthal kevlars, closest to the ruffian i can find.

They seem hard initially, after your hands warm the compound up the first ride, they soften up and become the nicest grips you've ever put your hands on. Just dont buy the rouge lock ons, they are a big diameter, but very soft as well. The emig is close to the ruffian, but the ruffian doesnt have the half waffle.

The Emigs are good on the hands. I haven't had any blisters since switching to them.

It's weird, but I like that the throttle and clutch side grips are the same size.

If ODI made Mx ruffians, I would have them on my MX bikes! I use ruffians on everything! PWC, BMX, etc. Agreed they are the best grips ever made!

Renthal Full Diamond Soft

Interested in trying these. I've always used Renthal half-waffle softs. Have you ever used the half-waffle?

Yes I have used Half Waffles in the past also, but I like more thinner feel of the Full Diamonds. I haven't noticed any loss of grip with Full Diamonds either compared to Half Waffles. Only bad thin with soft Full Diamonds is that they wear out pretty quickly.
