Crf450 starting difficult

Edited Date/Time 4/30/2016 10:26am
Hi guys, my 2009 crf450r recently started giving me issues on cold starts, it takes about 6 kicks to start it with the "choke" on, and occasionally on a cold start makes what sounds like a mini backfire. After its warmed up, starts first kick. I believe this to be an intake valve starting to suck into my head. Any other suggestions? Thanks helps a lot

Check the valve clearances and the cam timing.
Has the cam chain ever been replaced?
Have the valves ever been re-shimmed?
Has the bike set for some time without running?
Carb clean and fresh fuel?

Just bought the bike a couple months ago, I was planning on checking the valves. It has fresh 91 octane with Lucas oil octane boost in it. And no I ride regularly so it hasn't had much down time. thanks
