Thinking about buying a used 450 to hold me over till next year (buying a new 450 hopefully:-) and always thought the YZ 450's were good but what's the oldest you guys would go back? Saw a few 00-04 YZ426/450's on Craigslist and I remember them being great bikes? I have a 2 stroke YZ250 right now but miss having a 450 to race.

Nice 06-09 yz450s up here go for around 3 grand. Those were a lot nicer than the previous models. Hell, I liked them more than their current bikes.

Thanks....kind of want a "project" bike I can make brand new again and not initially spend too much money on.

I would go for the 06-09 as well. I bought a 06 for 1700 and put some love into it:

Let it go last week for 2800.

Nice bikes, just don't turn that good, if I would have kept it, would have change trees to a different offset.

Yeah the 06-09 YZ's are good...I had a 2007 YZ 250f. Thanks for the feedback. I'm actually stuck between wanting to save for a new 450 or just buying a good used 125 and a little 50 for my son and having fun until I can really afford a brand new 450 again? I'm kind of on the "buy a cheap 125 and fix it up like a pro bike" kick latelySmile

I have $2,500 to spend after selling my 06 YZ 250 and I'm really having a hard time deciding what to do? I look on craigslist and see so many bikes I could buy but damn if I always talk myself out of itSmile 125's are so fun and cheap but I do love me some 450 action....the guy who rebuilt that Rockstar RM 125 on here sure made me want one. What would you guys do?

Unless I know the person selling the bike and his bike repair routines, I would never buy a used bike. That being said use the $2500 down payment , get a new leftover, 12/13 new bike. Double the payments, improve credit score. Scenario, you buy a used bike 4 stroke, ride it ,blow it up , there is $2000, . There you go,new bike. , just my opinion. But I know of some mint bikes, but out a that price range. Keep in mind, for the most part, you get what you pay for.

Thanks...your right about getting what you pay for:-) I haven't bought a used bike since 1990 and that was a local pro kids bike that my dad looked into so I guess I'm going to most likely put it down on a new bike. The wife has been on maternity leave so I'm penny pinching until she gets back to work in January then it's new bike timeSmile
