I strongly recommend trying the Tusk Impacts. MXA did a test on them and gave them 4 stars (which is really good considering 5 starts is almost impossible with them!) I destroyed a set of Pro Wheels plus the bearings and seals are a rip off through them. I have a set of Tusk impacts on my honda 450 and im a top to middle level A rider in MN and they are still perfect after a couple months of abuse and required almost no spoke adjustments during break in. Very impressed for the money.

I got the DNA set for $500 from Motosport Hillsboro(The Shop). I'm actually pretty impressed with them. I think they will stay tight as long as you keep on the spoke tension.

Stock hub and D.I.D. STX rim with Buchanan spokes.
I have laced many and they are very very strong.
D.I.D. a stronger rim than the STX but they are a bit heavier. But if you are racing desert or Baja it might be worth the weight.
If you want bling that is a different story.

Chinese rims are weak.
Japanese rims strong.
Did a couple DNA wheels that collapsed with relative ease in less than a season. Some pretty heavy jumping though.
Depends of course how hard you ride.
If you are a trail rider then DNA may work.
Aggressive rider not so good.
The material the rim is made of is the diff. I think one of the majors make them in Taiwan and they are good.
