2016 WP A-Kit Cone Valve 48 Forks - New Design

Edited Date/Time 3/11/2016 1:44pm

Looks like the new 2016 WP Cone valve fork will have a whole new look. I have also been told that the new fork will be 5mm longer than the previous design. I wonder why they have done this? Was the previous CV fork 5mm shorter than the 4CS?

Anyone else heard anything about the new design?

Thankfully I didn't place the order for the "2015" Cone Valves. Hopefully they're the same price point. I'm going to try to find some more info on these.

I bit the bullet and ordered a pair. Can't wait to try them although won't be receiving then until mid November. Looks like I'm committed to the orange brigade.

Nice to see they are still advancing spring only fork technology. I have been drooling over the CV's for 6 months. This just pushed me over the top.

Will there be any a-kit version of the WP AER forks? Have anyone heard anything?

I'm not sure if they are calling it "A-Kit" but when I talked to PG suspension a couple weeks ago he told me to be on the look out for some new internals they designed for the fork. It was touted to be better an the CV and 3 pounds lighter.

Joshy you are assuming I don't just mount it to my garage wall for cool bling factor.

So it seems the 2016 Cone Valves were unveiled yesterday, being tested by RacerX etc i think...

Don't look anything like the black/red ones posted here but very cool all the same...my order is in!

Then what are these pictured below? Maybe Europe are only getting these colours as I have confirmed with a supplier in Europe that these are available to order, just waiting for production.

Yes i also saw those pictures on that company's facebook page, interesting! It would make sense changing the orange parts to a more universal red (now more Huskys are using them) Maybe?

I like the color change! Supposedly the first batch of 2016 CV forks haven't even been manufactured yet. Those pictured on the two bikes look like the previous design with the new wp decals to me, I think the launch was more aimed at the new 2016 AER forks.

I'm all for change too, and itll definitely highlight them as being 2016 forks...but i'm a little worried black will soon look dated. I hated when the older KTMs had them standard!

Just watching the new CP377 vid and noticed he's got the new red seal covers on, still silver tubes tho...I wonder whether the new kits will be more like this? I'm kinda hoping they aren't black uppers like the pic at the top!

Yeah i saw that too - looks like they are starting to roll out some of the new parts.

The 2016 Cone Valve fork will 100% be a new version with black tubes and red anodizing. This is what WP is telling me.

To confirm, black uppers or black lowers? Or both as in the top image? Cheers Smile

From what I have been told by two WP dealers they will be as pictured in the first post, black upper tubes with dlc lower tubes. They will be available by December/January. Allegedly they are all new in design.

From what I hear they are black uppers with DLC lowers but I wouldn't say all new design. Granted my information is second hand, sounds like an updated design. I don't think they new forks will be above and beyond the old ones, but hey I'm just assuming...

I wonder if we can upgrade intervals?

I like my TAC forks on my 16 KX so far and I absolutely LOVE the bike itself. It makes me curious how much better it would be with cone valves.

Agreed - sounds like more of an updated version than all new, might be a translation issue i'm having from WP Europe Blush

The forks will be 5mm longer and supposedly, from what i have been told from europe, have "new special bushings" which they are waiting for and causing the delay in completion.

I wonder if the KTM factory services supported teams for 2016 will run the new fork colours.

So spring pre-load adjustment is gone also with 2016 models and they make 5mm longer fork to deal with that? (Soft sand/ hard pack)
