2013 CRF450R Low RPM cut out

Hey Everyone, I own a shop in MN and I just came across a problem on my own bike this weekend I haven't seen yet. figured I would see if anyone has ideas to save me some trouble shooting time this week. Here is what happened. Rode 3 Motos Sunday on my 2013 CRF450 and it never gave me an issue since it was new. Did the whole shot on my last moto of the day and I started to notice in the first couple corners the bike would sort of bog and cut out but once the RPMs came up it reved out and ran fine. Did half a lap and pulled off. Bike died right away. It wont idle, needs the throttle cracked to start and runs rough up until its past 1/4-1/3 throttle. Once it revs up it seems to run fine and go to the rev limiter with no issue.

In a nut shell:
-Wont idle
-Runs rough and has a slight bog below 1/4-1/3 throttle
-once RPMs are up the bike revs out fine and it responsive. only issue is down lower in the RPM range.

My buddy had the same issue and it turned out to be shitty gas straight from the pump.

Empty fuel, clean fuel filter.

My 2014 did almost the same thing this weekend. Mine will idle though but had a bog down low. It started late in the day. I had a 09 and when fuel filter was clogged up it would quit pulling up top, this pulls fine in the upper rpms. How would you clean the filter?

Personally I would just replace it I think there like 12$ my other buddy had problems with the gas getting too hot. He corrected it with a heat shield under the tank. That was a 250 though

On service honda it shows $53 for filter kit. Ouch

My yz450 had a dirty injector- (got it ultrasonically cleaned for 29 bucks). My bike was backfiring and running terrible at all RPMs though. Plus it wouldn't idle.

Just my 2 cents.

I started mine today and it had 8 blinks on mil light blinking. It says bad tps sensor.

I havent even had a chance to wash it or get it out of the trailer yet. too busy with other customer stuff. Ill try an get to it this weekend and let you guys know!

Not sure if it helps you but our symptoms were similar. My MIL light did not flash on sunday the day it started doing this but it did yesterday when I started it. It told me I had a bad tps sensor. They are not avaialble through Honda, they want you to buy a whole throttle body to get the sensor for like $4-500. I found one that works from a acura car if this ends up being your problem also. Jut let me know if you need the info.

I did not figure it out a guy on another forum did. I am glad he did he saved me $300.
