I picked this bike up from a vital member yesterday here in Texas. After 2 years of searching and a 500 mile round trip I got one. We were discussing a bike he had for sale and in the conversation he said by the way I have this Plano honda cr 125 for sale as well. It appears to have every indication as a true team. I'm going to try and gather as much info on it as I can any one feel free to chime in. The frame has no vin, the pipe has no PC serial number on the tag,the bike is running the 99 or below cylinder which I have another Plano motor to be the same and has acorn nuts on the head which I spoke with a mechanic from 01 who said they ran those on the 01 bikes. There is some rubber padding that is below the carb on the motor as well it is on the head stay possibly for vibration and also just some small odds and ends that isn't normally seen on a reg bike. There is no AMA tech inspection on the bike so I don't know if it's a race, practice or test bike. I know all the suspension and titanium hard ware is missing which is usually the first to always go.

Yeah I have seen those pics. Thanks. I'm pretty confide t now since I have took it partially apart I found all the markings on the cylinder and head. Now to just dig a little more and see if it could have been a practice, race, or test bike. Either way I'm happy with what I got. Everything on it seems legit from the bars down to the tires.

Its actually an 02 bottom end with an older style cylinder 95'. They ran the same set up in 01 as well. So it's a 5 speed. I have the same setup on my other bike and its fast for still being a stock bore. It's a differnt combo 99 cylinder with 88-89 dome piston high compression motor.

I found the bike in Dallas. Met the guy actually on here. Very nice guy. I spoke with a mechanic at the dealership today who turned wrenches for the team and confirmed that it was a race bike after giving him the details. I'm pumped to be able to restore it. I have everything to restore except for shroud graphics. Factory effex can make em but it will be about 300.00. I probably will go ahead and have them make a set up. It was funny how this all came about the guy had another bike for sale and then he sent me pics of this one which I've been on the hint for about 2 years. Must have been one of those meant to be deals.

Contact Chad at Aktiv MX Graphics. Tell him I sent you. I can't promise anything but I have seen him re-create things before. Only difference is I'm sure he would put a small Aktiv logo where the N-Style logo would go..

Finally split the cases, found polished shift forks that have been hard coated, 2nd and 3rd HRC gear hard coated as well supercross apparently form what Ive been told by the mechanics I have been in touch with, there was also a Vertex piston in side labeled pro circuit 01P. Here are set of hubs that will be going on the bike. I have also confirmed this was Casey Johnosons's bike. I sanded the casting flaws and hand polished the hubs. Work has really slowed progress down in this one. Also made some progress on the frame. I have leaned after cleaning the frame with scotch brite go over the welds with a stainless steel wire brush and it reall makes the welds stand out nicely.

It's should start going together soon. I have been more busy than usual at work so the bike has been held back some. But I pretty much have everything to put it back together mostly all brand new stuff.

Dare Decals did a great job on my shrouds and airbox decals. They should be shipped bext week. They actually used silver foil materials instead of printing grey. He can do all the fluorescent colors as well. Thermal printing or silk screen instead of digital stuff.

Going back together should fairly quick. Took me about 4 months to get everything correct. Suspension will be here Friday. So I can start putting the chassis back together.

Today i tried your method on my frame. The red scotch brite and wd40 is not giving me the finish like your frame has ?
It gives me a scratchy finish.. Maybe the red scotch brite i have is to rough ??

When i use steel wool afterwards it's not removing the scratches and i end up with a polished finish..
Am i doing something wrong here ?

Possibly could be a little tougher. Try green as finish. On you steel wool don't used WD then just get a rag with brake clever and wipe it down.

I got this tip from TCR. For dirt stained frames clean it with SOS soap pads and simple green. Then hit it with Simple green and green scotchbrite. Then finish it with WD40 and green scotchbrite. Leaves that factory shine imo.

Have made a little more progress finally got my graphics in from Dare Decals. They look perfect. All the colors match. Recieved a few more pieces as well.

Who makes those red side number plates? Seems Acerbis stopped making them and can't find them in the Cycra catalog either. Cool rebuild!

Awesome build. I always loved the Plano Honda bikes but I preferred the year befores graphics with the big yellow plano Honda logo. I got my first 80 from Plano Honda. It was a great shop back then and I was sad to see it close.
