Hi I just bought lucas oil semi-synthetic s-cycle oil, it is low ash and smokeless, is that ok to put into my ktm 105sx? I will mix it 40:1. Also what kind of radiator coolant do I put in the bike? Do I use a special kind or can I just use the normal rad coolant , that my dad would put in his car? And according to the manual I am supposed to mix it with water (50%). Is all this right? Oh and what kind of gearbox oil do you recommend? Thanks allot and sorry for all the noob questions

That Lucas oil should be fine.

Use coolant that is aluminum compatible (most are now) but there are some motorcycle specific coolants that work well. (Engine Ice comes to mind) If you are using straight coolant, mix it 50/50 with DISTILLED water only. Tap water is no good.

I've had great luck with Bel Ray gear saver in my dirt bikes and my street bikes but there are other products that Im sure would work just as well. Just be sure to use a motorcycle specific trans oil. While regular motor oil will suffice, I feel the the extra protection of m/c specific oils are worth the added cost.

Your 105 is an expensive, highly tuned race machine so why skimp on it's lifes blood? Buy the good stuff and stick to it!!

Any extended life ethylene glycol coolant will work. The green stuff. Get the extended life coolant because it does not contain silicates that shorten the life of the pump seal. Mix 50:50 with distilled water.

I mixed anti-freeze with tap water (50/50) is that going to hurt anything?

To the OP, I use Bel-ray in my tranny. I also just bought some of the Lucas stuff you said and have been running it. Does it say s-cycle or 2-cycle? Mine says 2-cycle.

This is why you should read your shop manual cover to cover. Tap water often contains chlorine and other impurities. Chlorine is bad stuff because it eats aluminum. What are your entire engine and radiators made from? Thats right, Aluminum.

Distilled water is purified and is the only thing you should use. It's only a couple of dollars per gallon and is available at most hardware stores.

DISTILLED fuggin' water!!! What the hell is so hard abot that? Your cooling system DOES NOT need chlorine and fluoride. Your nearest drug store sells distilled water by the gallon, or buy the pre-mixed 50/50 ethelyne glycol (green) coolant as it is mixed with ionized distilled water from the factory.

I use ATF in my trans/clutch. Works great and gives great clutch life plus it's cheap. I use regular Napa branded Dex III ATF. And nothing but Motul 800 goes in my bike EVER no exceptions. There are other good oils (Lucas being one of them) I've just had the best luck with the Motul and it keeps things clean too. My second choice would be Maxima castor 927.

Engine Ice coolant......best on the market!

Any quality brand 2 stroke oil will work but read their label for the recommended mixing ratio.

I have been running Golden Spectro @ 50:1 for 20+ years and have never had a motor blow up. Replaced the stock still good crank in my 01 YZ250 last year with over 2000 hours on it. Spectro is good stuff!

BelRay 80W in the 2 stroke trans.

Never run 50:1 in a 125cc, or smaller, bike. A fast racer on a 125 should run 24:1 - 28:1. Slow trail riders can go as high as 40:1.

In all the Years i've owned 2stroke bikes ive used Honda HP-2 oil 32-1 and the honda red trans oil. The hp2 seems great and i have never had much carbon build up on the top of the piston or the powervalves, And never ever had a prob with fouling a plug. But i do jett all my bikes correctly also.

The Lucas Oil is fine mix it 50:1 i ran 40:1 in my KTM85sx for a month a it just shat oil all day and put a fuel filter in it (in the fuel line) Use Motorex Gear oil is good for KTM. Don't use coolent for cars they are a different to motorcycle coolent and mixing it 50:50 is good but you really have to worry about it to much. Also watch out for o-rings in the engine gone which causes coolent to come out of the expancher camber.

Hope this helps

It's called "anti-freeze" over here. "Glycol", perhaps? Not sure what you call it over the pond. Read this thread, then go to your local auto parts store and get the right stuff. Follow directions and add accordingly.

I would put Bel ray moto chill in your bike. No mixing required. I use bel ray gearsaver in my 125. I use 36:1 racing 50:1 if just riding. You bike doesnt have 2 smoke alot, mainly when starting is when most of the smoke comes out.
