2 Stroke Crank

Heard from a few guys that complete Wiseco and Hotroads not balanced so well and can be better to rebuild oem and get it balanced after. Any ideas?

I would always go with OEM parts from Japan for your lower end. I've never touched a Seizeco crank, but have seen many HotRod big end and crank bearings let go in under 15 hrs. I have also seen a few HotRod cranks far outside of their claimed .002" true.

Some people have had good luck with them, but I wouldn't take the chance.

Thanks for feedback. Been looking around on the net and by the look of things OEM is best and possibly Pro-X best aftermarket option.

Sounds like a good place. I was lucky. My local dealer did crank work for bikes, and snowmobiles. And was very good at it. Check the price of a new one, compared to their cost, and shipping and that. I don't know what bike you have, but you can get a Yamaha crank for $280, and no shipping charge. Keep in mind, it'll cost you another $120 or so for bearings and seals. Plus your other gaskets to reassemble the cases.

I would say OEM then Hot Rods then SiezeCo. I have a Hot Rods in my 125 and it seems to be fine.

I've had a hotrods crank in my yz285 for 150hrs with no problems. I'd not hesitate to buy again.
If you want your stock crank rebuilt then get in touch with RB Designs in Portland. He charges $30 labor (parts extra) to split, press and balance a crank.

I'm sure you mean "true it" and not "balance. $30 is cheap tho

I haven't personally had problems with any of the cheap aftermarket crankshafts, but I've never used one either. For the relatively small price difference between aftermarket and OEM (assuming you're not dumb enough to go to the dealer and pay full MSRP), its simply not worth a potentially $1K catastrophic failure to save a few dollars.

The only aftermarket stuff I'd consider is Pro-X, but I'd still go OEM first.

I have installed Wiseco cranks in 2 of my 125s. No issues.

ive seen plenty of wisecos go after less than 10 hours, i only ever use hotrods which i true and balance myself, or new OEM cranks, which i still true and balance myself. none of the above are perfect out of the box, theyre always just slightly off from sitting in a box for a while.

If the wiseco comes thru your cases, I guess that's not good. Research it on here for the video of the engine builder that showed what he thought was the problem. I wouldn't use one.
