So I bought a 16' KTM 250SX about 3 months ago and just have not been that stoked on it. I don't feel confident on it, forks suck in my opinion (though they got better after a revalve), and I just get beat up too much riding MX.

I still have my old CR250 that I figure I will keep for a beater 2 stroke, but I feel its time I hop on the 4 stroke wagon.. I rode an 11 or 12 kx250f after jumping off my CR and was just amazed at how much more comfortable I felt...

A 250f I feel like I will be able to work on becoming a better rider a little easier than if I just had a 450, plus my dealer was talking about throwing me a killer deal on the Kawi.. I was tossed up between that or a Yamaha, but I figured I would see what the opinion is..

Thanks

Both great bikes, imo, yzf. Better motor, suspension stock. Once set up both great bikes, resale better on yzf. Keep in mind 2017/kawy will be all new, yzf probably electric start. Alot of good parts for both bikes. Whats price difference on the 2? If its low get the yzf. But honestly, win win, 2 great bikes.

I heard that the 17' Kawi would be updated. But by then I don't think I will be able to get a deal on resale of my KTM. I was hearing 500$-1000$ and I can have a brand new KX with my trade in. He said the YZ was quite a bit more (800$) because of the lack of rebates and such.

I have never had a cherry bike, other than my KTM, but I just don't feel solid on it at ALL and I am just pretty bummed out. Really want to get on something I feel confident with

Both 250f. Bikes you mentioned are great bikes, like i said the 2017 s will be all new,but also probably $1200 more. $1200 you can make the 16 really good, pipe, suspension, tires. Gytr. For yzf etc. . probably get more $$ if you sold your ktm.

I think I may just go with the KX, I am sure I will be happy with the bike.. Probly just get the suspension dialed if I feel I need it.. I really just want to feel comfortable on my bike!

Sucks not having that feeling... Like when I rode that 11' KX 250f I instantly wanted one and felt at home on it. And it wasn't even fresh!

16 kawy is way better than the 11,not even close, set the sag, spring it for your weight. Play with the couplers. , buy a service manual for it. , use good fuel. Rip it.

Ridersville cycle has some pretty killer deals on left overs!

I had a low hour 11 kx 250f
and bought a new 2013 kx250f (same as a 16)

the 13 handled better and made a little more power
keep the stock pipe
remove the back fire screen and have it remapped to whatever fuel you run
made mine a reliable rocketship^ 53 hours before it needed rebuilt

Whats the deal with handling? The reviews say it "isn't the best", does anyone have complaints about that? I mean I feel like everyone will have something to complain about on a certain bike anyways.

I have never ridden a kx250f but according to the guys in the shop I was just at they are garbage. As they were rebuilding a top end on one due to a cracked piston they were talking about how they are crap unless you rebuild them every 10 hours or so.

rode a new 14 kx250f and i loved it, same day i rode a modified 13 rmz250 and it turned so well it was jaw dropping.

cant go wrong with green or blue on the 250fs, rmz if you value cornering over everything else. it was amazing.
