Hey folks,

Anybody knows the Keihin model number for an 07 crf450r?

Is the float valve seat pressed in or screwed in? Any tip for removing it?
I'm talking about part 36 on this diagram. I'm not seeing an obvious way to take it out.

Thanks!

Pressed in can't be removed safely without jackin up the body from my experience. Only the seats with set screws are made to be replaced, you can pull the inlet elbow out to clean under it but not remove completely.

That's a bummer. My carb leaks, even with a new float needle. I'm wondering if the o ring under the seat is defective.

Where exactly is it leaking from, I know dumb question but I'm just wondering. It could be your float level, if you still have it apart can you post a picture of the float where the needle hangs. And also what brand float needle did you use?

It leaks from the overflow. Not a lot, but "drip drip drip" when the fuel is on and the engine is not running.

I forgot to drain the bowl last winter, and of course with the 10% ethanol gas we get in Colorado, the thing was all gummed up.
I'm very careful not to bend the float assembly when I take carbs apart. So I'm pretty sure I didn't change the float level. But I suppose a marginally shorter needle could cause the problem?
It came with a rebuilt kit from Outlaw Racing

Yeah that could definitely be the problem, I always use the oem honda needle. I've had some good luck with moose but only when you use their needle and seat which wouldn't work in your case unfortunately.

What ever needle you use, the float height will have to be reset.

Use a dremel tool with a soft bristled brush to clean the seat surface. This is the only decent method I have found to clean that tough to reach area.

If that doesn't work, you can sometimes use an easy-out to pull it. Doesn't always work and there is a high chance of damaging the carb.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
I think I'm going to do a combo, try to gently clean the seat, go back to OEM needle, double check float height, and see what happens.
I can always destroy the carb later if none of this works :-)

Well, it looks like it was the needle indeed. I put the original back in, and no more drip yeah!
Pretty subtle differences.

Take a q-tip with some ultra fine polishing compound then clean the seat like you are lapping a valve. I do this with every keihin carb i rebuild or clean.
