I have an 03 Rm125 that seems to be having some sort of power valve issue. I keep getting a major build up of oil in there as the day goes on. Cleaned out before yesterday's ride, new HR-1 pre-mix 32:1, new plug, and even rejected carb. Plug looks decent. No build up of oil at all. Seems to go bla bla blaaa until it clears out in 1st or 2nd, screams like a monster and then soon as I let off a tad.... Bla bla blaaaa again. Once I get into 3rd 4th, seems to have a miss on the top end of the gear. Also noticed some oil around the gasket of the dome on top of cylinder. Could that be a blown gasket causing this issue? And would that cause the power valve oil up issue that I'm having? Sorry for the amateur question. Any help would be much aopreciated ladies n gentleman.

If you have leakage around the head, you really need to replace the o rings. Unless you are talking about the spark plug crush washer, and if it is leaking just replace the plug and make sure it is torqued correctly.

Just based on what you are saying in your post I would think that you needle is rich and possibly the main.

You could post a pic of your spark plug and that would really help.

Plug looks rich on the mid and top end.

You need to do a compression test and make sure your head o rings are not leaking. Then we have a baseline to work off of.

MOTODAD, I don't believe it is. But is a compression test the only way to figure that out?

Racinstation, what way should I jet it to lean up on top end. Running 330 main jet now.

Not good with the carb n motor stuff. I'm learning. Good with rest of bike and have decent mechanical skills. So please bear with me.

A compression test won't help to determine if that seal is bad. Remove and inspect, but while you are there, just replace it,they don't cost much.

Compression test first. You don't want to try to jet a bike that is worn out or as stated above, the crank seal being bad. Usually you will know if the crank seal is bad, your plug would be caked around the outside edge (rim) and it would smell like trans oil rather than 2 stroke oil when you were running it. Your transmission oil level would also be low.

Drained trans oil n all 750ml is there. And plug isn't gummed up around ring like you stated. I live in S Jersey so no crazy elevation or anything like that. But running a 330 main and a 291 needle on the middle clip. 3 from top and bottom. 32:1 fuel with HR-1 premix. If any of that helps with the trouble shooting.

Do the compression test so we have a starting point on your engine's health.
