Have done a few now thought some might be interested.
That's some damn nice work. I know those '81 CRs are regarded as some of the ugliest bikes ever made, but there's something about them that I've always liked.
Have to agree with you. I raced the 250 3 seasons with no issues. Was ported and polished with lectron carb. Forks resprung and fox shock . Was a good bike. Restored one of those as well.
Nice work! There is a pretty complete decent looking 81 cr125 close to me for sale right now....Even has the original front plate....I am currently on a 90”s binge...so no go for me....

Your one of few that I have heard running a lectron carb. I'm considering going with one for a 1989 WR250. They are pricey, can you give me some feedback?
I was G before the "moto drive" to Vital
It helped all the way through the power curve. One of the best carbs I have ever used. The air Stryker is a really good carb as well . Use them on all my son's 125s. Instant power. We always ordered them pre jetted.
I just installed a Lectron on a 2005 YZ 250 2 stroke and asked for it to be setup prior to shipping to me. Did a carb swap, fired it up, ran great, no tuning required. I did readjust the idle setting, after it warmed up.
I am hesitant to adjust it because it runs so well currently. There may be more performance to be had, but at this time I am not wanting to spend the time testing and tuning....it runs great and I am enjoying my riding time.
GlwasB4- The Lectron was the single best mod that I've used on my Vintage builds. I have one on a maxxed out 78 RM125, a 1980 YZ250, 77 Husky CR125GP, an 1982 Husky 250, and getting one next week for a 74 YZ175 Noguchi build and for my 76 RM250A. If you tell Dave all the particulars -- bike, engine mods, what type of riding you do, fuel you're going to use and the part of the country you mainly ride at ,they'll build it to suit and you'll never go back to a regular carb. Truly an amazing piece of hardware. A little pricey, but I'll trade off a couple of bucks every time to save time and aggravation of trying to get old vintage motors clean, crisp and ready to rock.
Also, they offer a Gunnar Gasser type of throttle assembly with cable that makes the install that much easier.
I tore it down again and replaced the frame. Someone had welded on a missing bracket and motor was in a bind. So she's ready to go.
