Hello People, I am new to the forum, just bought a bike almost as old as I am. When I finally get it to fire it runs like a raped ape. Trouble is that I kick it until I need oxygen. The over flow runs a lot of gas out, how difficult is it to rebuild the carb and what is the best repair manual to buy.

I have never heard of "Chicken Farm" but within an hour or so there are a couple of tracks and the ever present powerline right of way.

The Hard Rock Cycle Park is going to be my first venture on this machine, a couple of practice days (not to be too embarrassed ) and I would love to join you.

You need to go to www.x-tremevintageyz.com and spend lots of money. Then get you some vintage gear from Metro Racing so you can look the part. Search ebay for a YZ465 front brake backing plate. It has the dual actuated brakes, they work really good for being old drums. Yamaha still has a lot of stuff available, hopefully you have a dealer that is halfway decent to work with. I'm sure the rear monoshock needs fresh oil and a charge, there are several people out there to rebuild those if you don't want to spend $700.00 - 900.00 for a new Fox, Works or Ohlins rear shock. Best thing about it is that you'll never have to buy another new bike, other than the 81 YZ250 that is the next newest bike for the GP/Evo 2 class. Build it nice and maintain it and you'll have a competive bike that will never be outdated. Plus it will always be worth something. That's more than can be said for some of this new stuff. Have fun!!
