Looking for some YZ50G plastic
I just picked one up the other day to complete my collection of old Yamaha YZ's
It is a 1980 YZ50G
Does anyone know where to get this stuff
I tried DC, but they don't make it, said they would mold old stuff if I would send it to them

I have my 76 YZ80, 79 YZ125, 81 YZ250, 2-83 YZ250's, 83 IT250, my 86 XT600 and my 05 YZ250, and even a 2001 SRX700 Yami sled
See where I am going

Anyway--glad to get on board here, and hoping for some help and good convo's

Derick, You should really just buy my pretty nice YZ50G. While you are at it, you can buy my really nice YZ60H and my super nice YZ465H. I see where you are going and I'm here to help! I'll throw in any extra parts I may have including some nos plastics for the mini. You could just fly down to Texas, we'll go riding, you buy a new truck and haul the bikes back. Simple, I've got it all figured out. You still got that 81 YZ250 I see. Is it slow like mine?

Good luck finding parts. I'm looking for a rear fender and a silencer for my 81 YZ80 and its been impossible to find 1. I've been on Ebay, Craigslist, Maier, DC, you name it and nothing.

Well, good to hear from you
must be a few years now
Yup, still got the 81, work like a top
Got 4 National East Coast Canadain Vintage Champs on her and 1 on the 83
Mind you, we have a VERY small class
hahaha
I lent the 81 to a buddy's son this year--he came in a very close second

I would love to fly down, pick up all your bikes and parts, but alas, by the time I buy a truck, fly, drive, pay for meals and gas and bikes

I think you would owe me money
hahahahaha

DC plastic told me today that if they had some decent used plastic, they can re-make it, they just need a mold to go with

I would have so loved to get down to Texas to ride with you and the hundreds of other old bikes, but as I made plans, my cousin split with her hubby and she moved back to Canada, than my job got in the way

Well, if you want to sell some plastic, let me know

Which plastic parts are you actually needing? How much does DC charge to make the molds? Surely not a freebie.

If available, I'd buy a few sets of plastic for my 1980 yz50 and 1981 yz60 (since both use the same bodywork). The 60 was my first motorcycle, which I'm in the process of restoring. I have a few ideas for something different to do with the 50 (have two of them, actually).

Newmann, if you have anything you are interested in selling for these things, let me know.

Well, I may be in luck with a new rear fender already
but need the front fender, both side plates and the front one, but I can find any after market round plate to fit the front and have it look good
I don't know what DC would do for me
I mean, anyone that sent then down, would be helping them out as well, I would think

Speed & Sport Inc. has more discontinued OEM YZ parts than you can shake a stick at.

Not everything is in the database so give them a call if you can't find what you need on the website.

no problem, i thought that rear mudguard was very cheap, i have seen another nos yellow yz50 rear mudguard sell for about $60 i think,. as for sidepanles, front mudguard and front numberplate, i think you will have to keep looking they do pop up every now and then, but nos ones fetch BIG money! second hand number plates also fetch alot, because they fit the bigger bikes to, i have two nos front number plates on my bikes and they cost me nearly £80.

I just bought the rear fender from the guy, so all is good there
I may end up with a second one
I can just sell that one
ya, the little plastic is hard to find, but I could not turn down that one

I know what you mean about the money
I re-stored my 1976 YZ80C
NOS front plate---almost $170 Canadian
Right on par

Now I just ned a good NEW or USED set of side plates a nd the front fender

Anyone have a yz50g piston that you would like to sell? New or used as long as piston is not burned up or cracked???

I have a used one, but it's pretty worn out. Mind if I ask what you're trying to do? ProX still makes YSR50 pistons which will work just fine if you're just trying to get your bike running again. They have a thicker ring package and lack the intake windows of the YZ piston, but those are easy to add, and I just run 1 ring.
