Since you mention a cracked part being "on" the linkage, are you talking about the "mud flap" between the rear wheel and linkage? If so, it's pretty easy to cut one yourself from a good piece of rubber material. See attached pic.

That bike gives you a great start to a fun restoration, though it's an expensive one if you want to "keep up" with the other 100cc restorations going on. If you keep that stock swing arm (vs. going to the lighter IT arm), the chain slider will be very hard to find, but you can modify one from a 125. See next pic. Most of my ideas for my '83 YZ100 resto came from others in the biz, like Paul Johnstone, who also let me know that wide IMS Pro Series footpegs made for a Honda CR100F can be slipped right on with no mods! PM me anytime if you have questions, or decide not to restore it after all (first dibs; haha) .

The mud flat between the frame and linkage is there. The plastic guard that attaches to the linkage is cracked. I was hoping to find one and replace it. The 125 appears to have the same plastic guard, I was wondering if anyone knows if they are the same part?
Your rubber mud flat looks nice, I may have to look in to that. Your swing arm chain guard, is that from a 125? Looks like you were able to make it fit. I have only seen black reproduction guards available. I like yours.

The only bikes that show the exact same guard are the 82/83 YZ100 and 82/83 IT175. But..the YZ125 guard sure *looks* the same, only black plastic instead of white - maybe that's the only reason the part numbers are different?

The chain slider on my 100 is indeed from the 125, part # 5X6-22147-01-00. They are easy to find. The modification I made was to cut off the rear part of the slider, which is sorta triangle shaped. It will make sense when you get the part and compare it to my picture. The rear triangle part of the slider is not needed in this case, so I cut it straight across to make it square in the back. It still stays perfectly secure with the one front bolt. It can't twist since it's wrapped around three sides of the arm anyway.

Maybe some of you already know his pricing, but I spoke with Dave Miller yesterday concerning his tanks, and pipes. The tank is 2500, pipe is 1300. Yeah, it’s steep, but his work is 2nd to none....

Jemco can make a pipe that works just as good for a fraction of the price. DMC makes some great products but you are paying for the name also.

Dave's pipes are better crafted from many more cone sections than Jon's. Time is also a big issue with Jon's pipes to. Seems he is hit or miss when it comes to that issue. I received the pipe for my '79 YZ250 in three weeks......some folks were complaining that it took 3 months or more to get their pipes.

Mikuni VM 32 , repop intake manifold , get out your Dremel tool and do a little Port matching on the rubber intake. V- force4 reed block for a Yamaha blaster, 1982 yz125 rear boot, 1982 yz125 airbox optional. After you get it all together we can go over a starting point for jetting. Run race fuel.

You're YZ100 looks great I'm glad that Texas and your neighbor States are having such a great time racing the 82/83 YZ100. They have always been a super racer and the little buzz bombs loves to get down and rumble. Going to try and post a pic of my latest bumble bee.

Oh man! I am so happy to have found this forum! My first bike was a 1983 YZ100 bought as a left over in 1984. I was 13 at the time and used to ride it every day after school! I would love to find one and restore it. Would be great to work on it with my daughter and teach her to ride it. This would be a bit much for her at the moment, but we could work on a restore for a while and have it ready when she is ready! I imagine these are very hard to find these days, but I'll keep an eye out!

I'm diggin' the work on smoothing out the swingarm, adds a nice "works" look to it. Sorry but the black rims just don't do it for me. I like the old school look like on your other bikes.

I have an 83 yz100 that I believe my dad bought brand new. Im wanting to restore it to spec the best that I can but to be honest I have no idea where to start. I know it's probably a huge thing to ask but im just looking to be pointed in the right direction. The motor was seized but I unseized it and I think I want to rebuild it but I can't find parts anywhere. Please help.

Finding parts can be quite an adventure, but I suggest you start in one of four places.

1. ebay will actually be worth a look sometimes, you just have to check it often.
2. Parts houses like Babbitt's online or partzilla.com
3. speedandsportinc.com may have some of the harder to find pieces and
4. online forums, some practically dedicated to this little bike. There are members who have multiple YZ100's and
parts to help out. Start with this group and go from there YZ100 & YZ125 H/J/K Owners/Tech Group - 1981-83 models

I’ve had good luck on cmsnl.com for hard to find discontinued oem parts, they also have a nice feature where you can tag an out of stock item and you will receive an email if and when that part comes in.they buy up parts collections and such..have fun with your build..

Have a friend with one of these that needs to be brought back to life. Maybe that could be my next project after my 84 KX125-C1.
