I think the 3 million facebook groups has ruined the parts sourcing a bit. I guess if you are really good at navigating it all there are probably some finds.

Anything in particular you are looking for?

Facebook is likely the best bet.
Ebay seems to have premiums on certain parts you can save a ton on by buying thru facebook or craigslist.

Harder to find stuff, i've just been blasting WTB all over the FB groups and failing miserably but likely a good route if you're coming up empty.

For new hard to find parts I always check cmsnl.com .Theyre out of Europe so shipping can get pricey but they are always getting new inventory and they have a great option where if a part your interested in is out of stock they will email you if one comes in and you can purchase thru the link. They have parts Fische for all makes and models and the availability and pricing shows up as you search each diagram.good luck i your search..

a CR500R - based only on appearance 89 is my favorite year. I'm basically ignorant of what years were better and what years to avoid, so any advice is appreciated.

thanks!

Marks Vintage Swap meet was THE go to place for all vintage parts/bikes, even the almost impossible to find pieces, Unfortunately their 10 year old server crashed and burned last week, so they are temporarily off line. Although its a very difficult time to come up with a few bucks, the existing members have donated over 5k to help get the site back online. Still a few thousand shy. I have built /restored 24 vintage racers and I have a 100% success rate in finding what I needed on that site. Any of you High End Vintage dudes have a few expendable dollars to kick in ? You know who you are......lol

My Dad and I hit every junk yard in Ohio/Mich/PA/WvA and snapped up everything, that and recycler adds wanting old dirt bikes.

Hilarious!!

I was at Mid Ohio the year (2006?) he was escorted off the grounds because the facility could not provide him with safety from several people that were looking for him to make him "bleed".
