My 1980 kx has a vin like you mention above.. like 10 digits🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
I did find out when titling my 1980kx that in 1981 it was law to make them the standard 17 digit vin numbers. Who knew? And that doesn’t really even answer your question!😂😂😂😂
They use a frame number usually it would start with the model first. Then a frame number serial number Suzuki and Honda would do a 11 digit Kawasaki as well and Yamaha used a 9 digit.
Did you ever get any answers on this?
I’ve also got another 82 with the normal 17 digit number
Thanks Tim

I was wondering if I can get some help.. I have an old Suzuki AE50 / Hyper / Hi Up, with a 11 digits frame number on it.. I believe it's a japanese frame number, and I need to discover the model year of the scooter (it's something about 1988 and 1996) but in the frame number, the tenth digit is "7", and in tradicional VIN's it means "2007" and don't make sense haha
do you know something about it?
