Thanks. They cancelled the first race so now I have to wait till next month to race it. I guess I could race it at a modern track?

Round 2. 1984 RM125. The frame is not back from getting powder coated. I don't think this one will go as fast.

Raced the 89 this weekend. Wicked fast and handles like butter!! Front brakes suck. 1/4" of lever = locked up. It's tough to go from drum brakes in one class to a grabby disc in another. Any ideas?

Air bubbles in the brake line?

If you want to really trick out the 84 RM, lower the radiators as far as possible, install a tank from the 84125, back in 84/85 all the team bikes ran this setup. In the engine at the top of the intake you can drill 8mm holes into the back boost port and have the head trenched to match the flow across the cylinder head, crank up the timing a few degrees and this engine will run with anything, they can be real rockets.

If interested I may still have some photos from one of Mark Barnett's bike I acquired while working at Suzuki.

Thinking a little bit more about this, I used to have one of O'Mara's 89 motors, it had a piston form I believe a 77 RM 250 duel rings with the intake modified to match the 89 piston.

I think in later years they actually went to the 2 ring piston, you may be able to go that route now. Been a while since I had this equipment.

The crankshaft had a lot of attention, was not the normal gun metal color, I would assume it was balanced to a specific rpm alignment was perfect.

Mr. RA Suzuki himself, Ed Tashjian (SP?) out of SoCal did this and the bike looked extremely trick. Ed's a regular poster on FullFloater.com on FB.

He's discussed this swap there and is a super nice guy about giving advice. Also, I think there have been other threads here which have talked about this?

Dirt Bike magazine did a whole series of tests on hopping up the 84, they ran a bigger carb, tried I believe an ignition from an RM60 and the head from an '82.

Those are cool bikes, as an old Suzuki guy I'm really look forward to updates on your project!

If anyone would have told me that they were going to put the side graphics in black and blue and cover half the number area I would have said it would look stupid. But looking at it I think it looks great on the 125. As does the entire bike.

Did you really build the blue wheels and complete bike in one day? The blue wheels look good on that old bike too.

Both bikes look great! Keen to see how the 84 RM125 comes up as I am currently doing one of them myself at the moment

Thanks. The first picture is from a few days before. I cleaned and painted the hubs and built the wheels a few days before. As soon as the I got the frame back from the powder coater it only took 1 day to do all of the rest.
