Hi guys,
I'm starting a restoration project on my 1996 KX250. My intent is to go as stock as possible. Please reply or contact me if you have some parts (graphics, plastic, seat cover) for a stock 96 KX.

If you are willing to use replica original graphics and seat cover evo-mx would be worth a look

I have used purple radiator louvers and purple fork guards. They are in good shape and can be polished up to look new. Also, I think there are some purple shrouds on ebay. Search for seller timmer_dirk.

How deep are you going with it? A carpet queen or something to ride?

Some OEM stuff may still be available on Motosport and Partzilla, going to cost you though if it is. If you can source the purple plastic, rad graphics and swingarm graphics the rest is pretty easy to find. CEET might make your seat cover, you have to call them.

i would be interested in the purple radiator louversif you still have them available....i was able to get my hands on a new set of fork guards and guides, shrouds and (2) sets of OEM graphics. The guy I purchased the bike from purchased it in 97 and was only the 2nd owner. The bike did have some wear and tear on it but for all practical purposes, it was fairly stock with the exception of a pro-circuit pipe and silencer. My intentions with the bike are to clean it up, powder coat frame and fix worn out part and of course ride it Woohoo I always liked the 96 KX's from the moment i laid eyes on them and have been keeping my eyes peeled for one these past couple of years. As luck would have it, I found this one in great shape and only 15 minutes down the road from me.
Here are a couple of pics from the day I brought it home. I am about 75% of the way done with the tear down and re-build and will post some pics soon.





Also, the guy I bought it from had an extra swing arm that he purchased with the intentions of swapping them. As you can see in the pics, there is a big gash on the swingarm. However, the one he gave me doesn't look anything like the one on the bike (the one pictured) I have a 94 kx250 as well and the one he gave me when i purchased the bike is the same one on my 94 kx250. Everything i'm seeing on the internet and in my climber manual shows the one that is currently on the bike is not the correct swing arm for the 96. Could some of you experts chime in and confirm or deny? Thanks

I have a 96 and a 98 Swingarm that I'd sell, you can pm me if you are interested, nice bike, I know people hated the purple but I thought the 96's looked cool

I have a genuine left radiator shroud with graphics couple of small marks on it,was on bike when run in then taken off if you need one?

Thank all you guys for your help and great information...I'm finally starting to get some parts in and have been working on the bike.








I still have some things that need to be done and a few parts i'm still waiting. Sorry for the pictures being so close up. I don't have too much room in my little shop to get a good angle for a picture. When I get the rear tire on (hopefully this weekend, I'll get roll her outside and take some better pics. Please let me know what you guys think about my progress and the bike. Once again, thank you guys for all of the help and great info so far.

90's kawasaki projects are so cool. I had a 96 kx60. If you want a new purple Renthal cross bat pad there are a couple people that have them listed on vintagebikeads.com. you just have to do a search to find them.

Hey, sorry for the slow reply. Yes, I still have the louvers and a set of fork guard sliders. I will check this weekend.

These louvers need a little work... heat gun, straightening and one nut insert. Let me know if you want them. Message me. We can work something out. Thanks.

Ryan, would a 96-98 subframe fit an 99-02 bike? I'd love the 98 side panels and airbox with a 99-02 tank and shrouds. I know the seat would need some mods, but I think it'd look cool.

not sure how much you are willing to give but here are some NOS shrouds on ebay...

I was never able to find a new set of radiator guards or the fork guard guides so did the best i could to restore the ones I had. Good luck with your build and feel free to let me know if you have any questions..
