I say probably as I have had it for years. Someone else in this forum was looking for some of this gear. Most of the pants I have are size 34 and the jersey's are most L, though one or two or SMF and I think two are XL. Vented R&D jersey signed by Rudy and Dean Dickerson is a SM and in great shape. I pull this gear out of storage so most of it will need washing. The one pair of blue vented JT Racing pants were new and I foolishly rode with one time on a day that both my bikes ran hot (ruining the knee leather). I'll probably have it replaced before I let them go. This is all original gear, no replica stuff. Mike
The Shop
I guess I could make the Red/White ones work.
I've finally had time to get to this gear and I really appreciate everyone's interest and as some of you have heard me say I am getting rid of a lot of my inventory/out of the bike building business. Over the years I have collected small lots of items such as this gear (18 pieces), however after giving it some thought, I've decided to sell these larger items in lots. So all this gear goes at one time in one fail swoop for $1400.00. Now, before anyone thinks the asking price is high I can tell you I paid more than $475.00 for one and more than $325.00 for another of the jersey's alone (either the DG & R&D) . I know only one pair of the pants was less an $100.00 (Yamaha with missing letters), while all the rest were $100.00 plus and then some. The price is fair and set to move them quickly. Again, thanks for everyones interest. It took me years to collect them but I just do not have the time and energy to sell these pieces individually. I also have a lot of 79-80 Suzuki RM125 parts both new/used that I will be getting rid of in a lot as well (as soon as I can take some pictures). If interested send me an email. Mike
Here are the size details:
JT Vented blue and white pants - size 34 (early - mid 80s)
These pants have the torn/ripped up inner knees (these were new pants when I got stupid and wore them one time)…yeah this was end result. Any decent leather shop should be able to replace the inners knee leather. These are early 80s pants
JT White front/blue rear - size 34 (circa mid 80s)
JT Blue/yellow chest protector - size large (circa late 70s)
Vented yellow Moto-X-Fox pants - size 34 (circa 79-80s)
Moto-X-Fox yellow/orange jersey - size large (circa 77-79)
JT Vented white/blue Kawasaki pants - size 34 (circa 79-83)
R&D racing jersey - size small (circa 80 - 83)
Signed by Rudy & Dean Dickerson
Yellow Moto-X-Fox Suzuki jersey - size large (circa 79 - 80)
Vented DG Perfomrance jersey - size medium (circa 1974-76)
JT vented White front/red rear Yamaha pants - size 34
These pants are in overall greaet shape, they are just missing some of the letters on the size (a goold leather shop should be able to replace them).
JT vented white front/red rear - size 34 (circa 82-86)
JT vented white front/blue rear Suzuki pants -size 32 (circa 82-86)
JT vented Suzuki jersey (says Suzuki down the side) - size XL (circa 79-83)
Moto-X-Fox yellow/blue wranger jersey - size small (circa 82-86)
JT blue/white kidney belt - standard size (circa mid 80s)
JT blue/yellow kdney belt - standard size (circa 79-83)
JT sweat band - new unopened
JT rain gloves (blue) - size large - unopened
not sure of the value of any of it..
Pit Row
If only we knew how poplur this stuff would be 30 years later…I would have stocked up on JT, DG, Mugen & FMF parts and gear…and I'd be sitting on a small fortune right now….
I see guys getting stupid crazy on their prices for these parts. Truth is, there is no set market price for any of the stuff, it comes down to whatever a buyer is willing to pay and sometimes lighting does not strike twice. Let me give you an example. I bought a brand new aluminum clutch cover for $550.00 for my 83 CR250 on ebay as the stocker is magnesium and prone to pitting resulting in radiator fluid in your transmission (very common on these bikes). The solution is to use an 81 CR250 clutch cover which is made of aluminum. These cases do not come available all that often so they are worth some money, but not a small fortune. The cover I purchased was brand new, powder coated and the seller sent me the correct spigot at no charge it was well worth the $550.00 (if I never have to repair another clutch cover). Shorthly thereafter, like 4 used cases appeared on ebay in poor condition, meaning they would need some work to be used, plus they were red, so another $100.00 in powdercoating as well and these guys were asking between $350 - $450.00. What none of these sellers took into account was the condition of the part and what the buyer would have to put into the part to make it usable. If you list the part for $350.00, the buyer has to add another $150.00 in parts to make it usable and it's still a used part (so $550 for a new part is starting to look pretty good). Luckly no one bought into this BS, but my point in telling this story to you is that yes your helmet is worth something, but if you sell it on ebay and the reserve is too high or your "buy it now" is ridiculous, you want sell it. I have that same helmet and if I were going to sell it, I would start at $550.00 no reserve auction and see where it goes (that is the price I recommend you start at). The reason I would start at that price is because if your helmet is in good enough condition, there are a couple on ebay right now that are way overpriced and you could take advantage of that sellers auction by pricing yours right and getting good money at his expense. Plus, If you are 2 day out from the auction ending and you check the number of views at the bottom of the page and that number is not high (like 500-600 views), then you can alway cancel the auction. But if you list the helmet at like $1000 or more, I think you'd just be wasting listing fees and your time, because while there is no market price, there is a point where people turn away.
2 of the jersey's have my name and number on them so probably not much use for anyone else, and the foam liner(not the interior protective shell) in the helmet has broke down after all this time..
