Unadilla Rewind 2018 Promoter Classes

Edited Date/Time 5/26/2018 4:01pm
Getting the word out here boys.

There will be two 125cc promoter classes added to the 2018 Thor Rewind program. A 1980’s 125cc class for all 125cc bikes up to and including 1989 and a 1990’s 125cc class for all 125cc bikes up to and including 1999.

Obviously the promoter classes pick up the bikes AHRMA does not cover (mid-1980’s – 1999 or so). Adding 125cc promoter classes help in many ways - (1) provide an opportunity to ride the non-AHRMA bikes we consider vintage (2) provide an additional class for AHRMA 125 bikes (3) help manage the current full Pre-Millenium and Retro class gates, (4) provide a competitive solution for 125’s on this big (sometimes muddy) track, (5) give us a fun class !

The Retro (disc/drum) and Pre-Millenium (disc/disc) promoter classes will remain for the 250cc and open class bikes. I believe these classes may convert to the same decade class structure (80’s & 90’s) rather than disc/drum. AHRMA already has a disc/drum class.

The 2018 Unadilla Thor Rewind event is June 1-3. Get a 125 winter project and join the fun.

I don't understand why vintage 125 isn't a large class. It is hard enough to start yz465 at 23 years old never mind 53 years old.

I've wondered the same. The 125 classes were huge back in the day and the smallest at any of the vmx events I've been to. I've got 2 guesses...it's hard to ride a 125 for a lazy out of shape older guy. But if more would try it I'd think they would find that the light weight and low power is a really easy to ride and fun combo. My next guess...is that in the NW anyway, they combine all sizes of post vintage bikes. It's no fun to race a 125 with 250s and 500s. They need to be grouped with 125s. I think a stand alone 125 class would see tremendous growth.

I love what you guys are doing at Unadilla. I think it's the perfect class break up and people are going to really enjoy it. Now I just need to figure out a way to get my 88 Cagiva to New York next year!

Reminder bump to this topic.

The promoters at Unadilla are adding these two 125cc classes to their 2018 Rewind event. Look for an official announcement soon.

Me neither. I'm 55... 30 year layoff of mx.. Dilla is my goal for this year, along w/ the ACR series.
. 2017 was 1st year back & i didn't see one of these. Got a 93 (purple year) I'm doin now too..
Her name is Stephanie & has a b!tch personality, and attitude.
But seeing this thread, I'll be there (hopefully) will any of these?
Do they even exist anymore?
I'd take this tidler over a 4T 450 any day. Sorry I'm old. And MX aint SX... 2T Smile

Is there a schedule for Saturday and Sunday classes? How many classes can I run if I bring my 95 kx500?
I not clear what bikes are eligible, I’d like to bring the correct year/size bike so I can maximize the number of races I can enter...thanks!

You will be able to race your 95 KX500 in two promotor classes during the Rewind weekend.

Open class for bikes up to 1999 model year and the Open Age class.

Promotor classes should look something like this:
125cc up to 1989 with A, B, and C ability classes
125cc 1990-1999 with A, B, and C ability classes
Open (250cc and 500cc bikes) to 1989 with A, B, and C ability classes
Open (250cc and 500cc bikes) 1990-1999 with A, B, and C ability classes
Open Age (any eligible promotor class bike up to 1999) with A, B, and C ability classes

No schedule is out yet. As in past rewind events all promotor class moto #1 will run Saturday mixed among the AHRMA Vintage motos. All promotor class moto #2 will run Sunday mixed among the AHRMA Post-Vintage motos.

If you don’t have an AHRMA eligible bike, bring a 125cc and you can race more than two promotor classes.

Great, thanks! What’s a good place to stay overnight? Camping nearby?

Camp right at the track. It's the best. No hook ups. I love when I get up before everyone and go for a walk with my dog at the beginning of the day. It's serene with a fog covering the track and I'm filled with anticipation of a great day riding my old bike at Unadilla
There are campgrounds in the area but most stay at the track

Sounds good except for the ABC class deal, I nice thing about vet MX was limited classes. Hate to see this go the route of modern MX 27 classes sit all day to run 4 laps then cut to 3 due to time.

I'm advocating for a move to just 2 skill levels for Vmx here in the Nwest. We've done the 125 Dream Race like this since 2012 and it works fine. Master (A/B ) and Novice (B/C), I think this would help limit classes and create bigger groups...I'd rather have a class of 12 instead of one with 5 and one with 7. We already regularly combine the Intermediate and Experts for gate drops and motos and the Beginner/Novice. But......I think there's too many adults who are worried they're not going to get a trophy for getting 2nd in their 3 rider class if we do it that way!

I believe my 1985 YZ 125 would be considered a pre modern and I would be able to enter that class correct ?

pre millennial B & open B both had 30+ racers on the gate. Forget what class but one was 39 on the gate.

Correct - 1985 YZ125 is front disc & rear drum so AHRMA post vintage pre-modern class. That class runs both motos on Sunday.

Thanks for that! (rvshare) maybe I'm clueless, never heard of it. Whata deal vs hotel$/drive to hotel/bike safety/wear & tear on my own (140k mile old) ride; now my broke-ass working man mechanic self can roll in like all these ballers! hahaha. And no I'm not tryin to be a poser. Seems like a neat way to go to a race anything 3+ hours away.

Seriously, camping @ track (no tent option for wife- unthinkable) & the bar-b-Q's, meet new people, parties, is prob worth 2x the cost of the motorhome. Plus if it breaks down in the middle of BumFkEgypt it's on his dime not mine Smile
i B sittin there on the PA turnpike w/a wet bar & a kitchen Smile

I’m ready, I’m ready...

Way to go. Outstanding job on the rebuild. See you there. I'll be in both of the 125cc promotor classes.

Thank Jill and Greg for getting these classes added.

Very excited for these classes! Can't wait to come up as I've never raced at Unadilla.
