I love the rmz power and handling, but I hated the overheating, weight, and the gnawing at my wallet every time I rode it for fear it would blow yup lol. In the grand scheme, my rmz was a better bike, but im.a 2 stroke guy. I can tinker, tune, and enjoy a little wrenching on this bike. I may buy another 4 stroke in the future, but I'm in no big hurrySmile I'm pumped as he'll! This thingies low end to spare, and midrange like an atlas rocket. Very, very fun !

Preliminary ride today. Punchy power, no low end, decet mid, decent top. My 2000 kx250 would smoke it's ass. Im assumimg theres an issue lol. That damn sst pipe is probably a liability.
The suspension is genuine racetech revalves and springs. The rear spring is one step below what their sure calls for, for my weight. It's PLUSH AS HELL!! Needs an oil change is say though plus oil height.
Handling is light and flighty, and unfortunately way less awesome than my rmz450 was. The 450 stuck like glue, this bike feels like it skates around a lot.
The bike has been taken well care of. No rounded bolts, every bolt is correct, and bike feels fairly tight.
According to records with the bike, it had a top end rebuild recently. I'll check the top end for security.

I would find a stock pipe and check the gearing, service the suspension, set the sag/stock fork height and the clickers in the middle then go from there. If I didn't bleed green I'd have all RM's.

Giving the rm a good, thorough going over last nite lead me to find the following:
-Radiator shroud bolts are seized into the nuts and spin without coming out. Gotta get those out.
- spokes need tightening
-power valve adjuster had been turned COUNTER clockwise. Definitely the wrong way lol. I fixed that and ride today, and holy shit, this thing runs so, so strong and clean. PLENTY of low end, very strong mid, and fairly quick on top. It could possibly lose a tooth or two on the rear, believe it or not, and would probably still have more low end than my 2000 kx250 did lol.
-im wondering how much more low end is have with a stock, gnarly, or fatty pipe? If it's this strong with that dogshit sst pipe, then it must've been a low end beast as a sticker.
-there is NO WAY this suspension is stock. It is as soft and wonderful as a velvet cushion, yet firms up nicely as i hit things faster. It has racetech springs and stickers, so if assume it's had work done.
- Oh god, I love this bike! I seriously did love my rmz450, but the last ride I had on it I just decided that the excess weight, plus the sheer power I didn't really need for trail riding, wasn't what I was looking for. I'm seriously having so much fucking fun every single time I ride Smile Every one needs an Rm250!

Ditch the SST. I swapped mine for a PC Works, what a difference! I also added an 8oz flywheel weight, it helps hook up, reduce stalling, you won't notice any lack of quickness in the rev. Spend some time with it, let it sag a bit more than what the book says, you'll go through the whoops with more confidence. Great bike, good choice.

Soon as I get the cash the sst is gone. I think im.getting a gnarly pipe tho. I want all low end for woods riding.
