My dad just passed away at the end of January and I was able to go through some of his photos from his racing days in the late 60's and early 70's. He raced Expert class District 6 scrambles and flat track. I knew he also raced Tony D quite a bit and I had seen pictures over the years. Since his passing, I was able to go through what is left of his photos. Here's a couple of he and Tony at Pine Grove, PA. I figured you guys would like to see pics of Tony D before he hit the nationals so here you go.

My dad (Jim Nickell) is the main subject in this shot and TD is #53 immediately to his right. I'm not sure but I think they are from either 1969 or 70 but I think it's 70.

I'm pretty sure this is the same race.

Sorry to hear of your dad's passing. All those D-6 guys were fast, looks like your dad was right in there with them.

The bikes & vehicles in the background would make me think those photos might have been 'pre 1970. Of course, that's just a WAG on my part.

Thanks for posting. It's much appreciated.

Thanks for the kind words. My dad is on a 1969 in this photo and I've been on the Facebook page for 60's and 70's D6 Scrambles and Flat Trackers and they also confirmed it was 1970ish. Maybe 69. It was really cool because two of the guys raced with my dad on the same team and practiced together. They told me my dad went Expert in 1969 after his first year of racing. The old vehicles are probably because these dudes (like current racers) dumped all their money into racing. You can also see in the upper left a more modern vehicle than the ones in the foreground.

Sorry about your dad. Real cool photos. Pine grove has had some issues lately but they still were racing and riding there a year or so ago.

Hey Jnickell , I am pretty sure your close on th year being 70 unless your Dad's bike has the sholderless Akront Rims and if I remember correctly in 70 " Cemoto" went to the shouldered rims which were stronger but shure collected a lot of mud when riding in fun weather. Lol. Cool pics and glad you have those for good times memories.
