Tiger stripe "Safari" CEET covers

3/2/2013 6:50am Edited Date/Time 6/1/2021 10:04pm
I've been slowly collecting parts for a second resto of a '92 KX, similar to the one in this pic.

Trouble finding a replica CEET cover as pictured.

Anyone have a suggestion or lead on where I might find one, or the fabric to have one made? I check ebay regularly.

Those were ugly when they came out back in the day, why on earth would you build a replica with one? Wink

I'll keep my eyes posted down here in GA for you. I've come across a few items like this in the past so who knows?

Ceet wanted to charge me $350 + vinyl costs to do a 94 KX250 cover. They already made replicas BITD,

I've seen those on Ebay not too long ago. Search "KX125 seat" instead of KX250. Alot of sellers put "KX125/250" in the description and Ebay search will not pick up on the 250 part of it.

I had one of those Tuf covers on my RM125, wish I had more pictures and wish I would've kept that bike

Funny - about a month ago I ran across a NOS CEET striped cover on Ebay for 89-92 RM125 and I tossed it on my '91 RM125 for the heck of it.

Damn! That's the bike I wanted to restotre but I picked up a 92 and will do a ground up restore but your bike looks brand new...good job! I know the owner of Ceet and he said that those seats are very hard to come by. I had Ceet make me a plain Yellow cover and taller foam and it's good but I wish I had the one you found. What did you do for a skid plate by the way...I can't find anything? Also did you paint the frame and what Yellow did you use?

Thank you.

I found an NOS Works Connection glide plate on Ebay for the '91 RM.
For frame paint I used Dupli-color Engine Enamel Daytona Yellow.

BTW I had a '92 also and restored both the '91 and '92 together. I sold the '92 but honestly they are better bikes so be glad you have that year. I kept the '91 because it was "nicer" and more original and ended up putting it up on the rack in my garage along with my 1983.

I agree, liked my '92 better than my '91. Wish I would've kept them all, including my '89, '90 and '93...

I forgot about this thread. I stumbled on some old NOS Tuf Racing CEET covers a while ago and one of them is for a 92/93 KX125 if anyone is interested.

Purple with flo yellow TUF logo.

$19 was too much? I thought it was a deal.

I'm holding out for a NOS safari cover in green & blue (for KX500 or 88-89 KX125/250).

I,m going to make my own. Throttle jockey plain color, going with yellow like tuf ran on the ax bikes. The gripper cover is 41.95, letters or your name, etc is 10.00 more. I really like the 80,s blue Honda also, with tuf in yellow.

They can't make CEET covers since they don't own the IP. I see no patterns or options on their site that indicates they make anything even remotely resembling the old CEET safari covers.

As I wrote above, CEET absolutely will make these covers again you just call them and order.
