1) I dearly miss Carlsbad Raceway
2) Magoo's one-handed wheelie was pure badass
3) We will never see such special one-off racing again

It was f'ing awesome! I heard or read Magoo was doing like 120mph on the 500 Honda... The other bikes in it too, dirt track, motocross, harleys. The motocross, dirt, and road disciplines. Just awesome and aptly named Superbikers for a reaason. The ABC wide world of sports...
120 on a CR 500?? That's insane. I'm still a little mesmerized that the Harleys and the Hondas as such distinct advantages and disadvantages that kept the racing so tight.

Oh, for sure. Even more crazy is the geometry of a motocross bike, especially then, just is not designed for any kind of stability at that speed. A little headshake ?
A lot of cool photos on the ABC Superbikers facebook tribute page (no login needed): https://www.facebook.com/pg/AbcSuperbikersTributePage/photos/?ref=page_internal
Magoo 1985
No doubt Magoo was crazy sick on his Honda Works bike, but I have to give credit to the Harley guys racing those overweight shit boxes as well as they did. They were only built to turn left and hit 2" bumps at best
That was great! Loved it. Thank you for posting this! Danny had balls of steel to pass on the guard rail side like he did WFO!
