OK guys- after 5 years of searching for parts, making parts and building this thing, its 99% done and being raced this weekend at the AHRMA National (by my daughter since I'm laid up )
I don't typically post "before" pics or 'in progress" pics since they take up too much space in a thread, but I did post some "before" pics of this one just to display what I usually start with. I ran across this 5 years ago at Mid Ohio and grabbed it for 500 (I paid too much, lol ) . It had sat in some guys backyard in Canada for 30 years he told me----and it looked like it .
Obviously started with stripping it completely -blasting the frame ,PC'ing it . Used a 74 YZ250 front wheel and forks/clamps with all new guts. The rims are original that i refinished and anodized in "vintage" gold, Buchanan stainless spokes. The rear hub is from a 79 YZ --better braking and able to use a non-dished sprocket. Rebuilt a set of Works Gassers for the rear on a trick alloy arm. Made some really nice oiled bronze bushings for the swinger. The engine was completely stripped and fitted with a ported 175 cylinder with a Webco head ,new Mikuni and a PVL ignition. The pipe was extremely rusty ,pitted, ,dented and missing the stinger but was reported to be a legit Noguchi pipe , but I think its Jemco/PFR or something other. I made a stinger and routed it to the rear and used an alloy silencer. The airbox I'm fabbing out of aluminum (but its not going to be complete until after this weekends event-and I'm waiting for the gripper seat cover to get here --hence the 99% complete)
Now--- before the Noguchi purists bust my balls because I'm using a Yamaha cylinder and Webco head.-- I have an original 175 Noguchi cylinder/ piston/rings and head (in the pics) but since we are actually going to race this bike, I didn't want to take a chance of destroying those "Unicorn" unavailable pieces. When the bike gets retired from racing and becomes just a showpiece , then I will put the actual Noguchi top end on it . The bike came out pretty damn nice and started it for the first time last evening. My daughter will put it thru some heat cycles tonite and it will be loaded up for the weekends event. The first time it hits dirt will be her first practice on it Saturday afternoon. Hopefully I got the jetting and suspension close enough for her not to embarass herself lol.

This is a 175 Noguchi I bought from Gene McKay. Sorry for poor picture quality.
